Undisputed female super featherweight champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) avenged her lone defeat with a ten round unanimous decision over Christina Linardatou (14-3, 6 KOs) on Saturday night at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan. Baumgardner, 29, outworked the 35-year-old Linardatou, who recently had a baby. Scores were 99-91, 98-92, 98-92.
Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz won his professional debut at lightweight against two-time world title challenger Juan Carlos Burgos (35-8-3 21 KOs) to claim the IBF International belt. Cruz punished Burgos the whole way en route to a 100-90, 100-90, 98-92 unanimous verdict. The iron-jawed Burgos has never been stopped.
Heavyweight Jermaine Franklin (22-2, 14 KOs), coming off fights against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte in the UK, dominated previously unbeaten Issac Munoz (17-1-1, 14 KOs), but was forced to go the full ten rounds. Scores were 100-90, 100-90, 99-91.
Featherweight Ja’Rico O’Quinn (16-1-1, 8 KOs) edged Carlos Mujica (8-3, 2 KOs) over ten rounds in a competitive fight. Scores were 97-93, 96-94 on two cards. The third judge had local favorite O’Quinn up 100-90.
