Bakole crushes Osumanu in one

WBC #14, IBF #15 heavyweight Martin Bakole (17-1, 13 KOs) scored an easy first round knockout over Haruna Osumanu (12-2, 7 KOs) at the Sport Society in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Simply not much resistance from the 41-year-old Osumanu, who was quite overweight. Bakole stalked Osumanu from the opening bell and once he realized there was nothing much coming back, he opened up and blasted Osumanu to the canvas with a few seconds left in round one to end it.

Unbeaten lightweight Anthony de Bruijn (10-0-1, 6 KOs) outpointed journeyman Giorgi Gachechiladze (16-40-1, 9 KOs) over eight workmanlike rounds. No scores were announced.

Giron to return before the end of the year

By Hesiquio Balderas

The future of lightweight René Téllez Girón (16-1, 10 KOs) seems bright. The Mexican brawler just delivered a spectacular knockout victory via a lethal body shot against Eduardo Garza on last week’s Valdez-Conciencao undercard.

“That was a perfect Left hook to the body,” his manager Frank Espinoza told Fightnews.com®. The kid trains hard and fights hard. A lot of people took notice and it shows this kid has the tools. I think he will be a threat to anyone between 130-135 pounds, the best is yet to come for Rene. We are very close to fighting for a title. Silva KOs foe, Bopp upset in Argentina

The ten round main event saw unbeaten prospect Alejandro Luis Silva (17-0-1, 12 KOs) of Argentina KO countryman Maico Sommariva (9-4, 8 KOs) to retain his Argentina (FAB) super welter title. The first round saw both fighters having their moments in heated exchanges. The fight took a quick turn in round two when Silva dropped Sommariva with an uppercut and body shot that saw Sommariva spit out his mouthpiece. He valiantly rose to his feet to beat the count and the round ended. Sommariva made a nice comeback in round three temporarily rocking Silva. However, Silva ended matters in round four with a body shot where Sommariva again spit out his mouthpiece but beat the count. The referee correctly waved off the bout moments later as Sommariva was in no condition to continue. The official end came at 2:03 of round four.

Former multi-divisional world female champion Yesica Yolanda Bopp (36-2, 16 KOs) returned to the ring for the first time in nearly two years dropping a split decision to the lesser experienced and younger Juliana Vanesa Basualdo (5-2). The official scores of the six round bantamweight contest were 59-57.5 /59.5-56 for Basualdo and 59-55 for Bopp. Bopp was a former world champion at 108 and 112 pounds.

Carlos Andres Tello and Sampson Lewkowicz promoted the event with TyC Sports televising.

WBA orders welterweight box-off

The WBA initiates the move to a single welterweight champion with Ugas-Stanionis and James-Butaev

The World Boxing Association (WBA) issued a resolution ordering a “Box-Off” in the welterweight division, to have a single champion. Yordenis Ugas will defend his title against Eimantas Stanionis and Jamal James will do the same against Radzhab Butaev in the first stage.

The WBA’s title reduction plan has been a priority for the organization and it has been trying to move forward in many ways. This “Box-Off” will settle the 147-pound situation with great bouts between the top-ranked fighters and the winners of both fights will face each other before March to determine the sole WBA welterweight champion.
