IBHOF Fist Casting

Froch Cast

Report/Photos: Boxing Bob Newman

Just as a boxer might have to adapt to his opponent in the ring, adjusting his or her tactics in order to win, so too has the Boxing Hall of Fame had to adjust its strategies for the sake of the inductees and all attending the festivities this week in Canastota and Verona, New York.

With the wildfires still raging in Quebec and Ontario provinces in Canada much of the North Eastern United States has been enveloped in the resulting smoke and smog, causing a safety risk for anyone who ventures outdoors. Continue reading “IBHOF Fist Casting”

After four-division world champion Adrien Broner’s victory on Friday night in Miami, “AB” and Hall of Fame Promoter Don King discussed the win with Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.

Adrien Broner: It was everything I wanted but it wasn’t everything I needed. Right now I need some pussy. This was my first time on Don King pay-per-view, so anyone CAN get it – AfriCAN, AmeriCAN, DominiCAN – no disrespect to no law firm out there, but an attorney just got it. Anybody CAN get it.

What’s next?

Broner: Anybody with a title – I see, what’s his name? Romello? Retardo? Rolly? I like the winner of Teofimo and Josh Taylor, and whoever has a belt. I want all the belts. I don’t want just a Louis (Vuitton) belt or a Gucci belt, I want the WBA belt, the WBC belt, the WBO belt, and the IBF belt too. Continue reading “Broner: I want all the belts (Updated)”

Irish super welterweight prospect ‘King’ Callum Walsh, (7-0, 6 KOs) of Cork, Ireland, scored a fourth round stoppage over veteran Carson Jones (43-16-3, 31 KOs) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Friday night in headlining 360 Promotions Hollywood Fight Night series at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California.

Walsh let his hands go from the opening bell as connected on a shelled-up Jones. Displaying hand speed and flash in round two, Walsh tagged Jones flush to the chin with a combination. In the third round, Walsh continued to box and outland Jones, who continued to shell up on defense. Coming out strong in the fourth, Walsh pressed and backed up Jones, connecting flush as the face of Jones became a bloody mess. Moments later, Walsh dropped Jones. He got up, but Walsh finished him in the final seconds of the fourth as referee Eddie Hernandez had seen enough waving it off at 2:59. With the win, Walsh captures the WBC US Silver welterweight title. Continue reading “Walsh stops Jones in four”

Izmailov edges Foster

Izmailov Foster 3

By Boxing Bob Newman at ringside

In an intriguing light heavyweight matchup, southpaw Charles Foster took on conventional Ali Izmailov in yet another battle of undefeated fighters on the stacked Hall of Fame weekend card at the Turning Stone casino in Verona, New York.
From the outset, it was clear that the 3-inch taller Foster would utilize his jab, often measuring his foe, which drew warnings from referee Charlie Fitch. While Izmailov’s promoter Dimitriy Salita touted his charge as, “The best light heavyweight in the world,” it didn’t appear that Foster was listening.
