Undefeated WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) scored a spectacular eleventh round knockout over former champ Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) in their third fight on Saturday night at at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fury dropped Wilder in round three. Wilder came back to drop Fury twice in round four. Both continued to try to land big shots as the bout progressed. Fury hurt Wilder in round seven. Fury knocked down Wilder again in round ten, but Wilder rallied at the end of the round. Fury went for the finish in round eleven and battered Wilder to the canvas to end it. Time was 1:10. In the co-feature bout of the evening, Cuban heavyweight Frank Sanchez (19-0, 13 KO’s) handed Efe Egjaba (15-1, 12 KOs) of Nigeria his first defeat in winning a unanimous decision. It was fast-paced round, Sanchez connecting with the fast solid punches as Agjaba pressed and returned the favor attacking. Extending the jab in round two, Sanchez popped Agjaba and later in the round followed up with a solid right. Sanchez continued to stay busy in the third boxing well and connecting on Agjaba. In the fourth, Agjaba began to let loose but Sanchez continued to land solid punches and box effectively. Attacking in the fifth, Agjaba began to back Sanchez who continued to box. Puerto Rican middleweight slugger Edgar Berlanga (18-0, 16 KOs) had his hands full against a very tough Marcelo Coceres (30-3-1, 16 KOs) of Argentina. Berlanga stalked and attacked Coceres patiently early in the fight. Coceres fought off his back foot in the fourth Berlanga landed a hard left hook that momentarily staggered the Argentinian. Berlanga continue to stalk in the fifth but Coceres kept fighting on. Coceres landed a huge right in the sixth stopping Berlanga’s forward momentum. Late in the fight in the eighth, Coceres circled and jabbed connecting on Berlanga as he was straight forward. A chopping right hand by Berlanga to open the ninth got things started, as Coceres with a shut right eye kept his distance popping the jab, but Coceres landed an overhand right sending Berlanga to the canvas. The tenth and final round, Coceres boxed as Berlanga stalked and looked to land the right. All three judges scored the bout 96-93 for Berlanga.

Super welterweight Vladamir Hernandez (13-4, 6 KOs) of Durango, Mexico edged out former world champion Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-2, 16 KOs) in winning a ten round split decision. Hernández was cut on the eye in the opening round as Williams landed some big shots. Williams continued to land heavy punches connecting Hernandez with the right in round two. Despite getting hit with big punches, Hernandez stood close to Williams in the third. It was an uphill battle for both fighters, as Hernandez began to close the gap the second half of the fight. Late in the fight, Hernandez appeared to have the momentum. The judges scored the bout 96-94, Hernandez, 96-94 Williams, and 97-93 for Hernandez. Bösel edges Krasniqi in WBA eliminator

In a WBA light heavyweight eliminator, WBA #3 Dominic Bösel (32-2, 12 KOs) won a twelve round split decision over WBA #1 Robin Krasniqi (51-7, 19 KOs) on Saturday night at the GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany. Krasniqi surprisingly knocked out Bösel in round three of their WBA interim title fight 12 months ago, however, this was more the technical affair you’d expect between these two. Close rounds. Lots of holding. Scores were 115-114, 116-112 Bösel, 115-114 Krasniqi. The bout was also for the IBO title.

Unbeaten German domestic heavyweight champion Peter Kadiru (12-0, 6 KOs) scored a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over Boris Estenfelder (11-3-1, 7 KOs). Scores were 99-91, 98-92, 100-89.

Cruiserweight Roman Fress (14-0, 8 KOs) defended his WBO Inter-Conti title with a ten round unanimous decision against Luca D’Ortenzi (15-2, 4 KOs). Scores were 95-94, 97-92, 97-92.

Former world light heavyweight title challenger Callum Johnson (20-1, 14 KOs) barely got past Server Emurlaev (24-3, 8 KOs), taking a ten round majority nod to retain his WBO Global championship on Saturday night at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England. Scores were 95-95, 96-94, and an outrageous 99-92 (Ian John Lewis). Emurlaev resumed his career earlier this year after a nine-year layoff.

European super bantamweight champion Jason Cunningham (30-6, 6 KOs) won a controversial twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten British and Commonwealth titleholder Brad Foster (14-1-2, 5 KOs) in the main event. Scores were 115-114, 116-112, 114-113.

Fury-Wilder: A Stacked Card

Promoters are quick to throw around the term “stacked” card, but tonight’s Fury-Wilder PPV card really is stacked.

Here are tonight’s odds courtesy of BetMGM:

Tyson Fury -250 vs. Deontay Wilder +210
(WBC heavyweight title)
Efe Ajagba +150 vs. Frank Sanchez -175
Robert Helenius +185 vs. Adam Kownacki -225

The only wide favorite on the main PPV is Jared Anderson at 20:1 over unbeaten Vladimir Tereshkin, but Tereshkin may be undervalued.

On the free-TV lead-in, Edgar Berlanga is a 50:1 favorite over Marcelo Coceres and Julian “J-Rock” Williams is 16:1 against Vladimir Hernandez.

The early non-televised undercard fights can be seen on the ESPN and FOX apps.

There’s also a full day of Euro action, so ten or eleven hours of continuous ring action is available for hardcore boxing fans.

IBF mandatory lightweight contender George Kambosos is still focused on defeating undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez after five dates for their showdown have fallen through for one reason or another. Matchroom will now promote the fight sometime in November.
