Fighters competing on this Saturday’s Canelo Álvarez vs. Caleb Plant PPV undercard went face-to-face and previewed their respective showdowns at a press conference on Thursday in Las Vegas.

Thursday’s press conference featured two-time super middleweight champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell and “Madman” Marcos Hernández, who meet in the 10-round co-main event, former super bantamweight world champion Rey Vargas and Leonardo Báez, who square off in a 10-round attraction, plus super lightweights Elvis Rodríguez and Juan Pablo Romero, who will battle in a 10-round fight that kicks off the pay-per-view telecast. Amanda Serrano will be featured in the pay-per-view co-main event of the December 18 Paul-Fury PPV event at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Triller’s next PPV idea is a boxing vs. MMA team event taking place inside of a triangle ring on November 27. Looks like former heavyweight challenger Kubrat Pulev will be one of the boxers. The show will also include a concert by Metallica.

Promoter and bestselling author J Russell Peltz announced the passing of 1970s/80s light heavyweight contender Jerry “The Bull” Martin at the age of 67. Martin was 25-7, 17 KOs. He is best known for upsetting prison inmate/contender James Scott on national television.

The televised PPV undercard of the November 20 welterweight clash in Las Vegas between undefeated WBO world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford and former two-time welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter is set.

The co-feature is a 12-round IBF middleweight world title eliminator between 2012 Olympic silver medalist Esquiva “La Pantera” Falcao (28-0, 20 KOs) and fellow unbeaten Patrice Volny (16-0, 10 KOs).

The PPV telecast also includes a 10-round middleweight tilt between rising star Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (10-0, 6 KOs) and former world champion Hassan N’Dam (38-5, 21 KOs), and an eight-round lightweight duel between unbeaten prospects Raymond “Danger” Muratalla (12-0, 10 KOs) and Steven “The Hitman” Ortiz (12-0, 3 KOs). Canelo Álvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) is looking to make history in the 168 pound weight class by collecting all of belts and becoming the first Mexican undisputed champion.

“It has been a long road, 16 years as a professional fighter,” said Canelo to the media right after the final press conference. “It’s been a hard road, very tough, but we are in this spot because of discipline, hard work, determination. If it was easy, anybody would’ve done it. But we are here close to making history by collecting all the belts at 168 pounds.

“This fight is personal, even more than the second Golovkin fight, for everything that happened in the press conference in Los Angeles. WBO#1 light middleweight Tim Tszyu predicts WBC,WBA,WBO super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez will defeat IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant on Saturday in Las Vegas, but thinks the future Hall of Famer is beatable.

Trainer Eddy Reynoso is confident his star boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will win his fight this Saturday against Caleb Plant and Eddy is also confident it will end by knockout.

“Our strategy is to pressure Plant from the first bell on, to win round by round, and to look for the KO,” said Reynoso. “I’m confident that we can get the knockout. WBO junior lightweight world champion Mikaela Mayer (15-0, 5 KOs) and longtime IBF world champion Maiva Hamadouche (22-1, 18 KOs) faced off on Wednesday in advance of their title unification tilt this Friday at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This will be the first time a female world title bout has headlined a Top Rank on ESPN card since the most recent incarnation of the series debuted in July 2017.

“This is terrific for women’s boxing,” said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum. “It’s great that the best women in any weight class are facing each other.

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (25-0, 24 KOs) and IBF #2 Isaac “Pitbull’’ Cruz (22-1-1, 15 KOs) commented on their December 5 PPV showdown at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Cruz replaced Rolly Romero, who was forced out due to allegations of sexual abuse.

Gervonta Davis: “I respect Isaac Cruz for stepping up and taking the fight, but everyone knows what I do. I come in looking for the knockout and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in this fight. I’m back in Los Angeles where the stars shine and I’m going to light it up against Isaac Cruz at Staples Center on December 5.”

Isaac Cruz: “God willing I’ll be world champion on December 5. This fight is a very big motivation for me as a professional and as a personal goal. I’m sure after December 5 everyone in boxing will know the name Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz.”

It’s official. Devin Haney (26-0 15 KOs) will defend his WBC lightweight title against Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz, Jr. (32-1-1 15 KOs), the WBC interim champion, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, on December 4, live worldwide on DAZN.

Devin Haney: “I was born to be great, so these are the moments I get up for. I learned a lot from my last fight it made me a more dangerous fighter. You guys can expect a ton of excitement and explosion in this fight!”

JoJo Diaz: “I’m always daring to be great, that’s what I want to be known for during my career: taking on the toughest challenges. I know I will rise to the occasion and showcase to the world the kind of fighter I am on December 4. I am going to give Haney the ass whooping he deserves.”

“After weeks of back and forth I’m happy to announce I have signed my end of the agreement to fight Devin Haney December 4th in Las Vegas,” stated JoJo Diaz via social media. “I’ll be in the best fighting form I can possibly be and deliver a classic for all the fight fans. It’s go time.”

Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn called out Diaz, after JoJo’s original opponent Ryan “Kingry” Garcia pulled out with an injury. Diaz accepted and now the deal is done. Haney is the WBC lightweight champion, while Diaz is the interim champion. The bout will air on DAZN.

Unified WBA/WBC/WBO super middleweight world champion Canelo Álvarez and undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant made their grand arrivals in Las Vegas on Tuesday, before they meet in a Showtime PPV this Saturday from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

At Tuesday’s event at MGM Grand, each fighter declared their intention of making history and emerging victorious Saturday night.

The fighters meet at today’s press conference for the first time since their scuffle during a face-off in September. Will there be a face-off today?

Boxing returns to Hotlanta as Garry Jonas’ Probox Promotions presents “Future Stars” on November 19th at the Buckhead Fight Club. In the main event, undefeated 6’8, 270lb heavyweight Christian Thun (6-0, 4 KOs), a primary sparring partner for WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, is set to face Terrell Jamal Woods (27-49-9, 19 KOs). Unbeaten #8 WBO ranked jr. welterweight Yomar “The Magic” Alamo(20-0-1, 12 KOs) of Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico has shined under the Telemundo bright lights for the past few years. IBF#6 bantamweight Aran Dipaen (12-2, 11 KOs) will challenge IBF and WBA bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (21-0, 18. KOs) at Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan on December 14.

I was there when Inoue beat Emanuel Rodriguez for his IBF title in Glasgow, Scottland. Inoue is a top pound-for-pound boxer and has the knockout punch. For the boxing fans, Dipaen, who is only known in Thailand and is the underdog in the fight with Inoue. I believe nothing is impossible in boxing. I believe Dipaen will shock the boxing world on December 14 in Japan when he scores a knockout over ‘The Monster.'”

WBC bantamweight world champion and future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire will defend his title against undefeated WBC interim champion and fellow Filipino countryman Reymart Gaballo headlining action live on SHOWTIME Saturday, December 11 from Dignity Health Tennis Stadium in Carson, Calif.

Tijuana dressed in pink last Saturday, hosting one of the most keenly anticipated fights in the history of women’s boxing when Jackie Nava fought Mariana Juárez.

These two warriors have given Mexico a plethora of emotions through their many years of being stars in the ring. Multiple world championships, with absolute dominance in television ratings on each and every occasion; both have dignified boxing and demonstrated the power of women.

WBC strawweight champion Panya Pradabsri (37-1, 24 KOs) had to work harder than expected and survive a scare in the seventh round to defeat Danai Ngiabphukhiaw (9-3, 5 KOs) by twelve round unanimous decision in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand. Panya was rocked during an exchange in round seven, but he survived the crisis and otherwise was pretty much in charge. Scores were 117-111, 117-111, 118-110. The event was presented by Petchyindee Boxing Promotions’ Piyarat Wachirarattanawong.
