Canelo Álvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) is looking to make history in the 168 pound weight class by collecting all of belts and becoming the first Mexican undisputed champion.
“It has been a long road, 16 years as a professional fighter,” said Canelo to the media right after the final press conference. “It’s been a hard road, very tough, but we are in this spot because of discipline, hard work, determination. If it was easy, anybody would’ve done it. But we are here close to making history by collecting all the belts at 168 pounds.
“This fight is personal, even more than the second Golovkin fight, for everything that happened in the press conference in Los Angeles. So I will punish Caleb Plant even more, I’m looking forward to hurting my opponent in the ring and I will do so.
“This is the biggest fight of my career so far because of the history and what it means to be the first Mexican and Latin American fighter to be undisputed champion of the world, all the belts are important but this one is for all the marbles.”

Well we know why it was personal with GGG. First, he came in the ring after one of Canelo’s fights to hype up a fight, only for the brat to dodge GGG for 2 years after talking shit in the ring. Then, GGG called him what he very much is. A drug cheat.

Am a fan of both fighters. But canelo won ggg. I would love too see a third fight but the outcome would be the same. He will retire without another loss on his record. Andre ward would give him trouble if he would come out of retirement and fight him

If you knew anything about boxing or watched the fight with GGG you would have seen G backing up throughout the entire fight. There is no other fight in his career where you will see G back up. Canelo forced him back in almost every round of that fight with his firepower.This was despite G constantly throwing his own solid shots throw ghout. GGG does not back up except when forced to. That is exactly what Canelo did throughout that fight. If you compare Plant to GGG that doubles down on your ignorance, Plant can’t carry G’s shorts. He has beaten no one , G beat everyone except Canelo.
