Unified WBC/WBO/WBA super middleweight champion Canelo Álvarez held a virtual workout on Wednesday, as he showed off his skills ahead of his highly anticipated PPV showdown against undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant on November 6 in Las Vegas. The winner of their fight will become the first undisputed 168-pound champion of the four-belt era.

“It’s new for me to have this much bad blood with an opponent,” said Canelo. “It’s very different from normal and it’s definitely the most animosity I’ve had with an opponent heading into a big fight. I’m sticking with my prediction of a knockout before round eight. The first couple of rounds will be difficult, but as the fight progresses, I am going to be able to get him out of there.”

Sad to report the passing of former middleweight boxer Jimmy Campbell at age 43. Campbell fought the likes of Daniel Jacobs, Anthony Dirrell, Virgil Hill, and many more during his 25-bout career. He later became a trainer.

Also sad to report the passing of John Graham, Chief Inspector for the Florida Athletic Commission. He had been a member of the Florida State Boxing Commission since 2012. Graham also served as a police officer in Hollywood, Florida.

Lastly, we’re sad to report that former WBC super welterweight champion Miguel de Oliveira recently passed away at age 74 in Brazil. De Oliveira was 45-5-1 with 28 KOs. He was Brazil’s second pro boxing world champion. Eder Jofre was the first, Acelino Freitas was the third –Gabriel F. Cordero

Exciting unbeaten welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis will look to make it 26 knockouts in 28 fights when he faces Thomas Dulorme in a 10-rounder on Showtime October 30 in Las Vegas. Ennis is currently ranked IBF #3, WBO and WBA #5 and WBC #8 at 147 pounds, and he believes that a title shot isn’t far away. He sees Dulorme as just another obstacle in the way of reaching his ultimate goal.

“Dulorme is a good fighter and I don’t take anything away from him,” Ennis said. “He’s fought a lot of great guys, world champions, but I’m on a different level right now. I’m coming to take over the welterweight division and he’s in my way. He’s got to go. I’m coming for all the belts.”

WBA reaffirms Ugas vs Stanionis

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has denied a special permission requested by the team of the super welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas to make a unification fight. The world title reduction plan is currently a priority for the WBA and all the decisions taken are to achieve this goal. This was announced last August 25 after a negative media campaign on multiple titles.

In the 147 lbs. category, it was decided last September 15 by a resolution, that there would be a Box-Off between Jamal James vs Radzhab Butaev and Yordenis Ugas vs Eimantas Stanionis, whose winners of both fights would fight later so that there would be only one champion in the division. WBC Convention venue named

The World Boxing Council has announced that its 2021 Convention will take place at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico City. The facility is located in the heart of Mexico City’s posh Polanco district and is a return to the site of the memorable 38th WBC Convention that took place back in 2000. Since the 2020 convention was a virtual event due to the pandemic, this is the first opportunity for the WBC family to reunite in person as well as virtually for those who cannot attend. Dates are November 14-19.

Arthur-Yarde kickoff press conference

Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren today hosted a press conference to announce British boxing’s big light heavyweight rematch between Lyndon Arthur (19-0, 13 KOs) and Anthony Yarde (21-2, 20 KOs) at Copper Box Arena, London on December 4 , live on BT Sport. Also on the line will be the position as number one challenger to WBO world champion, Joe Smith.

The pair first met last December when Arthur won on a split decision after 12 rounds.

Fight Academy has announced that this Saturday’s show (October 23) at Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield, England, has been postponed after a late medical issue for one of the main fighters, along with positive Covid tests made the event unviable.

Hamed Ghaz was due to top the bill, with local Keanen Wainwright in the chief support slot. The card will be rearranged for a later date.

Local junior welterweight Joseph Fernandez (14-3-3, 5 KOs) scored an impressive third round stoppage against Jose Forero (13-9-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at Banquet Masters in Clearwater, Florida. Backed by a large cheering section, Fernandez got off to a strong start and landed many clean shots against the rugged Forero. In round three, the southpaw Fernandez connected with a picturesque right hook to Forero’s head that sent him crashing to the canvas. Dalakian-Concepcion will be on Nov 20

Union Boxing confirmed that Artem Dalakian (20-0, 14 KOs) and Luis “Nica” Concepcion (39-8, 28 KOs) will fight on November 20 in Kiev, Ukraine, for the World Boxing Association (WBA) flyweight title.

Dalakian has been WBA 112-pound champion since 2018 when he defeated Brian Viloria. He has since made four defenses. Concepcion was the interim champion before the WBA’s title reduction plan began. He will now have the opportunity to fight for the WBA world title.

The three PPV undercard bouts have been announced for the undisputed super middleweight clash between Canelo Álvarez and Caleb “Sweethands” Plant battling on November 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

All three are ten-rounders.
