Gamboa-Cruz in Spence-Ugas co-feature

Lightweights Yuriorkis Gamboa and Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz have reached an agreement to fight on April 16 in Arlington, Texas, in what will be the co-main event of the card headlined by Errol Spence Jr. or Yordenis Ugás will unify the welterweight titles. For Gamboa, it’s a great opportunity after losses against Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney, Cruz is coming off a close decision loss to Davis last December, after accepting the fight at short notice.

  • Why? Gamboa is done. He peaked about 12 years ago. One of the first things to go was his power so I reluctantly say he doesn’t really even have a punchers chance.

Cruz is fairly one dimensional but mase a lot of believers in his fight with Davis. Cruz is coming into his own.

    Cruz by 8 rd tko.

  • This is a great stay active fight for Cruz he can learn from a veteran and grow from this while all the while build up his name for better fights and paydays

  • Dang, Gamboa vs. Cruz is like watching a National Geographic episode, and Gamboa will not escape from Cruz. Not sure why Gamboa plans to offer himself on Cruz’s boxing lunch tray, but hats off to Gamboa. Because of the fight results against Davis, Cruz is more hungry and quietly mad.

I hope to see Cruz use his jab more for closing the distance and for unloading controlled power punches.

  • Now this is how you put together a PPV card. I look forward to this one. Gamboa is shot so this is a chance for Cruz to look spectacular.
