Fury urges Whyte to sign contract

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has reminded mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte that he has just three days to sign the contract for their world title fight or lose the opportunity. In a video shot while doing roadwork, Fury stated, “Dillian Whyte you little sucker, you got three days left bitch. Sign the contract pussy!”

Whyte is not happy with the 80/20 purse split, even though he stands to make over eight million dollars. Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum has made it known that Whyte’s not getting any extra money, although he may get a cut if the PPV does well.

  • Damn 80/20!!! Well after you battle beat Wilder and Klitschko you can do that. If Whyte truly believes he can win (HE DOESN’T) sign the contract, win the fight and he will call all the shots.

    • 80/20 sounds bad… EIGHT MILLION does not. And if he wins the fight, there’s no rematch clause. He’s completely free.

        • Yep! He can rematch and trilogy Joshua. He can drag Povetkin out of retirement for their third fight. If he beats Furt, he’s the man.

      • Too many of these fighters are worried about what the other guy is making. If Fury were making 5 million and Whyte were making 6 million Whyte would likely be happy. But because Fury is making over 20 million now 8 million is not good enough. 8 million is life changing money for the chance to be at the top of the game. If I were him I would not care what Fury was making.

        • That’s an excellent point. If you’re happy with what you’re getting and something tells me Whyte has never made that type of money, who cares what the other guy’s making. Good for him. This whole percentage split is new to me. You didn’t used to hear about it at all, it’s like the ‘A-side, B-side’ stuff. Make your money, win the fight, the next time you fight, your payday will be even bigger.

        • From what I gather Lucie, Whyte made 300K and 500k for his fights with Povetkin. So this is a big jump. I remember a situation where Mosely turned down something like 12 million for a 3rd Delahoya fight because Oscar was making around 15. So he goes and fights Winky for 4 million and we know how that turned out. I bet when personal troubles set in he wished he had 8 million extra dollars and maybe a 3rd win over Oscar instead of two losses to Winky.

          • I remember that. Mosley was a good decent man but not very smart in turning down Oscar 3rd fight and fighting for less money against Wright and losing. I had him winning the first Oscar fight but losing the second fight thanks to shady judges. He did look stronger though which I remember the performance enhancing Balco scandal after that fight

      • agreed Lucie.. 8 million dollars is no chump change… i’m starting to think Whyte doesnt wanna fight. this would prob be his biggest paycheck yet..

        • It does seem like that. I can’t imagine he has another fight lined up that’s going to pay him 9 million or something like that. If he doesn’t sign for this fight, he will never live it down. Guarantee you 8 million dollars for a fight that you’ve been calling for forever and you say, “No thanks. I’m good”.

    • Well said. You took the words right out of my box. Whyte has to crawl before he walks. If he wins, then he will be able to call the shots. Whyte is sounding a bit arrogant.

  • as Hearn would say,, its by farrr, his biggest payday ever. sign it, or…………………….

  • Dillian Whyte is a big name in England and brings a lot of attention to the fight. 80/20 purse split is a slap in the face on Dillan’s name. $8 million is a bunch of money but not when your opponent gets 40. Whyte has paid dues, made to wait longer than anybody else, and simply deserves better.
Tyson has fame, fortune, a family and been able to travel the world but still hasn’t matured past an adolescence.

    • I agree, Fury blows a lot of smoke with his delusional conjecture of stories. Fury loves to blame everyone else for delaying and avoiding fights. Yet, we all know he has been guilty of the same hypocritical behavior when he delayed the rematch with Wilder only to be seen cruising around Vegas having a jolly time sight-seeing. We all know he delayed the fight since his mental instabilities caused him a loss of time in his preparation for the fight. Yes, it gets old with his hypocritical antics.

    • Whyte is a wuss for not taking the 8 million. If he was confident of beating Fury he’d take this his biggest payday and knowing he’s going to win he’d dictate the terms for the next one but he’s not as confident as he talks. He’s a greedy prick who has no respect for anyone.

    • NJ- Very true But if he doesn’t fight, he gets ZERO and continues to wait for his opportunity. I use the word opportunity in the reasoning of potentially becoming World Champion. Every fighter dreams of becoming a World Champion at some point in their career, not so much to become a millionaire. This is that opportunity! The millions come once ur the champion.

    • Fine. Win the title. Then collect $40 for the rematch that the public will clamor for.

    • Foolish to back Whyte with him crying foul and asking for more money like dude get his nutsack out of your mouth already. Whyte has been knocked the F out twice and Fury has beaten legitimate reigning world champions and is undefeated and you are on this ridiculous bandwagon crying foul with him because he’s ‘only’ being offered 8 mil? Who cares what Fury’s making he’s that A side the true reigning world champion.

If Whyte don’t take this fight it isn’t because he’s being treated unfairly because if he was that confident he would know he would be in the drivers seat next time but he’s scared and foolish

  • There’s a little “if” here and that is if the PPV does well. I have my doubts, Requiring purchasers to buy the ESPN + App hurt the Crawford-Porter fight a lot, I think. It hurt the buys on this one, too.

    • Hi! Cowboy, I’woud, say: the ppv will doing well,at least, better than Crawford-Porter fight.I don’t know why but that kind of heavy weight fight is (most of the time)often doing good on pay tv.Salut, from Québec

  • WHYTE, TRUE GETS 8 MILLION BUT WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT… THAT’S MORE MONEY THAN 99% OF THE READING AND COMMENTING ON HERE WILL EVER MAKE IN THEIR LIFETIME… WHAT THE HELL WHYTE IS A BOXER NOT A GOD… TAKE THE MONEY WHYTE AND DON’T BE FOOL… AIN’T NOBODY WHO READS ABOUT BOXING GONNA PAY YOUR GROCERY OR ELECTRIC BILL… DON’T BE STUPID WHYTE

  • Unless Whyte has some unknown mean(s) of displaying leverage, I have a feeling Whyte will sign an 80/20 contract at the last minute or else he will kick himself for not signing the contract. During the next few days, maybe Whyte will achieve an adjusted contractual miracle (although highly unlikely).

I am wondering if Whyte has firm confidence in defeating Fury.

    • Eman- yea, i see him signing it too. he would be stupid not to. My guess is just like yours, he will wait til the last minute to sign it just to see if they will renegotiate it for more. I do however think that Whyte does not have a firm confidence that he will defeat Fury. This is why he is asking for more$$ instead of taking what is offered, beating Fury and giving him the rematch and making twice as much.

    • I hope he signs. He was offered a contract and refused it once before, so who knows? It sucks to have the title locked up and go through this BS. It just deprives fans of good fights because a guy wants to be a prima Donna.

  • Can you imagine spending several years of your life chasing a fraction of the heavyweight title, finally getting a shot at it, and then pissing that shot away because you’re unhappy about the terms under which you got that shot?

Man, if Whyte doesn’t sign this contract, he absolutely is the dumbest SOB in professional boxing. Don’t like the terms of this fight? Fine. Have confidence in yourself – win the ****ing title, then DICTATE terms for the next one.

    • Agreed. And even if he loses but puts in a good showing, there will a couple of more big paydays for him after the Fury fight.

  • Whyte does NOT deserve more than 20 percent at best! He got knocked the F out against Povetkin ! I’d have just offered Whyte no more than 3 million tops take it or leave it.

  • Decisions, decisions. 8 million is 8 million no matter how desensitized we are to that amount. Either:
    1. His pie might just be divided amongst too many parties.
    2. This will be his last hoorah and wants ride off more than secure.
    3. He’s scared.

  • come on and sign, the price of coke is going up and the big man needs to stock up for his next Vegas bender

  • I’ll fight for 5. Whyte will never get another paysay like that. Net at least 2 or 3 of it. Love how Fury always gets to the point.

  • whyte probably knows he cannot win a few people here have indicated he will make much more if wins
but that the point he is unlikely to and it will be his last big payday so he is hanging out for more that my take

  • Fury wants this fight signed. I am sure Arum is hoping it isn’t since 40 is too much for this. Whyte trying to hold out last minute to hope for 1-2 million more. I mean if Whyte loses, he probably can still get a payday vs Wilder at some point. If he fights and wins, jackpot.

  • What is in the contract besides the money for Whyte? Is Fury trying to obligate him to media and promotion appearances? If so, Whyte should say “no thanks” and make Frank Warren submit a contract based on the purse bid and force Fury to sell all those PPV needed for Frank Warren to justify his bid.

  • If he has a problem with the purse split he needs to take it up with the WBC who came up with that split. I get it, the split is normally 55-45 when an interim champion is fighting the champion. How it became 80-20, who knows especially since Whyte has been the interim champ for years now.

  • 80/20 is a joke ! Sorry but White is waiting for years to get a shot after his defeat against Joshua ! He deserves more than that ! 70-30 is the right number and will get him to fight already..

  • Whyte beats Fury and becomes undisputed. Late to the game, always improving and you can tell a lot from a man’s loses and his 2 defeats he wasn’t disgraced and Fury is all smoke and mirrors
