Marku defeats Ramirez for WBC silver
Unbeaten welterweight Florian “The Albanian King” Marku (12-0-1, 7 KOs) came off the canvas to win a somewhat tainted ten round unanimous decision over Miguel “Maquina” Parra Ramirez (21-3-1, 14 KOs) on Thursday night at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana, Albania. Marku was credited with a dubious knockdown in round four, and further aided by a questionable point deduction against Ramirez in round seven as the fighters jostled in a clinch. Ramirez dropped Marku hard with a left hook in round eight and was pouring it on when the ref waved off the round 10 seconds early! In the end, Marku was declared the unanimous decision victor and claimed the WBC silver title.

Don King Statement: For two months DKP has been requesting bank wire instructions for Queensberry Promotions in order to pay Daniel Dubois’s purse. Yet, never received them. Bernard Hopkins: No Punches Pulled, Part 4
In part four of this four-part interview with Fightnews.com®, ring legend Bernard Hopkins pulls no punches as he prepares to embark on the biggest fight of his career outside the ring.
By Jeff Zimmerman
Oscar De La Hoya told Fightnews.com® at the weigh-in for the Ortiz-McKinson fight a few weeks ago, that Ortiz Jr. was now the mandatory from all sanctioning bodies to get a shot at the 147lb title held by Errol Spence Jr. [WBC, IBF, WBA] and Terence Crawford [WBO].
Bernard Hopkins shared his thoughts on what that means for Ortiz Jr. and his potential crack at the welterweight title.
“It is worth it right now [getting Ortiz Jr. mandatory status by all sanctioning bodies]. Any other time, I would be like, ah ok, it’s an incentive to get one person and everyone sitting there waiting for someone to come next and I’m in that position. And that statement I support, and it is clear. It’s not end all, be all.” Continue reading “Bernard Hopkins: No Punches Pulled, Part 4”

Bernard Hopkins: No Punches Pulled, Part 3
In part three of this four-part interview with Fightnews.com®, ring legend Bernard Hopkins pulls no punches as he prepares to embark on the biggest fight of his career outside the ring.
By Jeff Zimmerman
Bernard Hopkins is confident that the Spence-Crawford fight will take place, which would delay a title shot for Golden Boy’s rising star Vergil Ortiz Jr. Ortiz Jr. has been the WBO mandatory to Crawford’s title for quite some time.
“Let me tell you why that fight is not going to fall through,” Hopkins explained. First, Crawford is not dumb. He’s very, very intelligent and smart out of the ring just as well as in the ring. Second, they are going to ask too much from him to come to the PBC regime, Al Haymon. He doesn’t want to be a part of that, he just wants to fight. So, he doesn’t want to be a part of the PBC. ‘I am who I am. I got a title; I’m just coming with this.’ He doesn’t want to be locked in. I don’t blame him. He just got out of a situation. Why do you think he made that move to do that move?
“The only thing Terence Crawford needs for real, is a good mouthpiece that knows what the hell he’s doing and knows his worth like he knows it. He will save a whole lot of money and some headaches. So, to me and the way I know how they talk about the old bushy hair King, but a lot of them in there and want to be just like Don King in a different way. And they cover up by saying we pay our fighters a lot more than everybody and they keep all the money, that’s just a smoke screen. That’s a jab and then a right hand knocks you out. I know the game. I know the game.” Continue reading “Bernard Hopkins: No Punches Pulled, Part 3”
