We have something for everyone,” said Ryan Kavanaugh, co-owner of Triller. Continue reading “Triller PPV to split concert and boxing”

Former WBO bantam champ Tomoki Kameda (37-3, 20 KOs), 124.5, returned to ring warfare after a twenty-two month hiatus since his losing effort to Rey Vargas with his WBC 122-pound belt on the line in July 2019, and scored a unanimous decision (78-73 twice, 79-73) over Hironori Miyake (9-11-2, just a KO), 123.25, over eight lopsided rounds on Saturday in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Jose Ramirez: I was never hurt

Two knockdowns made the difference as former world champion Jose Ramirez lost a close twelve round decision to now undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor.

“He took advantage of some of those clinches but, hey, I got back up and tried to give it my best and stay smart,” said Ramirez afterward. “I was never hurt. I was aware. I was just disappointed every time it happened. I tried to shake it off and get back to my rhythm. But it was overall a good fight. Hopefully, I get back and I learn from my mistakes. You win some and you lose some.

“I felt like I landed some clean shots. It came down to the clinches. He would let his hands go as soon as he got his chance and I think I left it to the referee to do his part and it was a lack of experience on my part.”

We have an undisputed super lightweight champion and his name is Josh Taylor. In a unification fight for all the 140lb belts, WBA/IBF champion Josh Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over WBC/WBO king Jose Ramirez (26-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night inside The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Good two-way action early. Taylor was cut over the left eye in round five. The bout turned when Taylor dropped Ramirez in round six with a straight left hand and again in round seven with a left uppercut. Ramirez was hurt but survived.

Taylor backed off on the gas pedal after that, allowing Ramirez to shade most of the late rounds to pull close. Scores were 114-112 3x. The two knockdowns were the difference.

With the win, Taylor became the sixth man in the four-belt era to attain undisputed status.

Fury-Wilder III is signed

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced on ESPN that he has signed a contract to fight Deontay Wilder in the third fight of a trilogy. Fury said the bout will be the first live gate at the 65,000 Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Date is TBA. Fury stated that he’s going to smash Wilder first, then Joshua.

“This guy is a glutton for punishment,” said Fury. “He’s an idiot. He got absolutely dismantled and smashed to bits in our last fight and he wants that all over again. He’s telling people I cracked his skull, I injured his shoulder, I done his bicep, yet he wants to get in there with me again. It’s one of two things. He’s absolutely crazy or he’s a sucker for punishment. I’ve gotta beat up Deontay Wilder a bit better than last time because he didn’t get a good enough hiding. This time I’m going to really double, double treble smash him.

“AJ’s got a big mouth with no substance. [That fight] happens this year. I’m gonna deal with this mug, knock him out cold. Then I’m gonna deal with the other guy straightaway.”

Shimizu Connects With A Overhand Southpaw Left To Mori

Who says we can see better matchups under the COVID-19 pandemic than previously? No way. It’s just because of our government’s regulation to keep foreign athletes/boxers from freely entering Japan and our promoters have been compelled to book fights of competitive compatriots.

A good example was the unification bout of the regional featherweight champs. OPBF champ and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Satoshi Shimizu (10-1, 9 KOs), 125.5, outhustled and outscored WBO Asia Pacific ruler Musashi Mori (12-1, 7 KOs), 125.75, to win a unanimous nod (116-112, 118-110 twice) over twelve all-southpaw rounds on Friday in Tokyo, Japan.
