Shields gearing up for MMA debut

By TMZ.com

“B**ch, in your dreams! In your wildest dreams!” That’s Claressa Shields — 26-year-old boxing champ turned MMA fighter — giving a message to upcoming PFL opponent Brittney Elkin … after Shields says she heard B.E. promise a quick highlight reel finish when the women fight June 10 at PFL in Atlantic City.

TMZ Sports talked to the 11-0, undisputed light-middleweight champion boxer only weeks before she makes her mixed martial arts debut … and we asked Shields if she had a prediction for her fight with Elkin (3-6 as a pro-MMA fighter).

“Everybody wants the knockout, everyone wants the stoppages, but for me, I just really want the experience,” Claressa says.

“I want to get in there and get out as quick as possible, I’m fine with that. But, if I have to go 15 minutes and have an all-out war with Brittney Elkin, I’m fine with that.”

And, that’s when Claressa dropped the hammer.

Shields later continued … “I saw an interview where Brittney Elkin said she wants to make me a 15-second highlight reel. Like she wants to go in there and knock me out in 15 seconds. And, I was just thinking to myself, ‘Bitch in your dreams. In your wildest dreams.'”

“I wasn’t gonna talk trash for the fight because I feel like I don’t have that right because it’s my first fight in MMA.”

Welp, there goes that.

To make sure Shields isn’t on the wrong side of a quick KO or submission, she’s been training at Jackson Wink in New Mexico — one of the most famous MMA gyms in the world — which happens to be where UFC stars Jon Jones and Holly Holm train.

“I’ve actually spent hours working with Jon. One of the most strategic people I’ve been able to work with in MMA thus far. Like Holly is very strategic too, but she’s super energetic.”

Claressa Shields + Jon Jones + Holly Holm … best of luck Brittney Elkin.

  • I’m intrigued. I hope CS can team up with Holly. What a learning opportunity! Holy was a world champion in Kickboxing, boxing and MMA. She’s a bad MoFo and I bet a good teacher/coach. CS has the athleticism to follow in similar footsteps.

  • She is a joke. After All that drama with her brother and the old coach that got hurt i have No respekt for her anymore

  • Why is shields using worse foul language? Trying to hype up her career>?

    • Are u living under a rock ? U have to promote yourself its a business i.ll bet u will watch just like McGregor cursed himself into millions

  • Something about CS’s attitude/behavior bothers me. I am sure CS can think of another way to gain the public’s eye in a more positive manner.

    • Are u living in the twighlight zone ? Male fighters do it all the time why cant this lady say stuff to promote her fights

  • Very disappointed by Shields moving to MMA, a sport I have no interest in. MMA is nothing like the Sweet Science. It’s not nearly as great a sport as the Sweet Science. MMA requires a skill set that I don’t respect nearly as much as what is required to excel in the Sweet Science. I suppose she sees an opportunity to make more money in MMA, but I predict that it will be a rude awakening for her.

    • LexusNexus, your opinion and taste. A boxer is lost once they hit the ground. And in kickboxing, just ask Shannon Briggs how it went before he got the ko.

  • I can say that once Shields loses any matchup in her career, the fight fans will be hammering on her since her overwhelming presence with trash talk and antics puts an objectionable taste in our mouths. However, this is fighting. Trash talk is part of the gig.

  • Hope Shields does well. Maybe she can lose some weight and challenge Nunez or Cyborg to get choked out or get her arm broken in the first round.

  • Still waiting on the final numbers of that amazing PPV from March 5th, you know like 79 days ago, or was that the number of buys too????

  • Claressa should win this fight, but she has a horrible style for mma. From listening to her perpetual trash talking and posturing, you would think that Claressa is the 2nd coming of Mike Tyson, but in actuality, she only has a whopping two (2) knockouts in the entire course of her professional boxing career.

    • Somewhere, always has to throw a snow white attitude from the ugly part of you..

    • Dam dude its a business this girl is tryna get paid u have to say stuff to get people to watch

    • Dam dude its business shields trying to get paid u have to promote the fight to get folks to watch

  • “B**ch, in your dreams! In your wildest dreams!”
    – I love when women say this to me 🙂
