Former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine is confident of victory against WBO #9 welterweight Jeff Horn if negotiations are successful for a fight taking place later this year with expected record live gate.

“I want to stop him in the first six rounds, quicker than Terrence Crawford did. You’ve got no idea how good I’m feeling at the moment. I’m pumped bra,” Mundine told the Daily Telegraph. “It’s good that Horn is going to get a payday. He’s a young man with a young family. For me it’s not about the money. I already own nearly 10 properties and I’ve made my millions. This is about me winning and fighting in America. I don’t care where I fight him, as long as there’s a square ring.”

Heavyweight contender and Boxcino Heavyweight champion, Andrey Fedosov (30-3, 25 KOs) returned to the ring with a 1st round stoppage over Francisco Mireles (19-14, 5 KOs) in Phoenix, Arizona. Fedosov of Russia, made quick work of Mireles and will be back in the ring later this month. Mireles suffered his sixth KO loss in his last eight fights.

“It was great to have Andrey back in the ring,” said Artie Pelullo, President of Banner Promotions, who along with Hitz Boxing, promote the 32 year-old Fedosov.

“The heavyweight division is hot now with a lot of great opportunities, and with another win or two, we can see Andrey in a big fight.”

“I am happy that Andrey is back in the ring, and in a short time, he will be back in contention to compete for the heavyweight championship of the world,” said Bobby Hitz, President of Hitz Boxing.

The June 2018 WBO rankings were released by the WBO this week and in what has to be considered the biggest development in the rankings, eight division world champion and former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) was dropped from the welterweight rankings due to the fact that he is now scheduled to fight for the WBA welterweight title. The departure of Pacquiao from the WBO rankings marks only the second time since February of 2009 that Manny Pacquiao has not appeared in the WBO rankings as either a champion or a contender (Pacquiao was briefly dropped from the WBO rankings in June of 2015 after he lost his WBO welterweight title to Floyd Mayweather, but he reemerged as the #2 ranked contender the following month). Less than two weeks before the fight and still no advertising or network announced. There were problems with the funding for the fight, but those issues have been resolved. Now it’s just a matter of finalizing the broadcast.

By the way, Manny Pacquiao is a 2:1 favorite to dethrone WBA welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse when they collide in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 15 (July 14th in the USA).

Honolulu’s undefeated Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon (11-0, 10 KOs) will attempt to continue his rise up the 140-lb. ladder when he faces capable Colombian veteran Luis E. Flores (24-9, 20 KOs) at Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

The 10-round fight will serve as the evening’s co-main event of Heavyweight Factory Boxing promoter Kris Lawrence’s “Hometown Throwdown,” followed by a 10-round crosstown rivalry showdown between undefeated Miami-based welterweights Harold “King” Calderon (16-0, 10 KOs) and John David “Pretty Boy” Martinez (10-0, 8 KOs). In last night’s historic national election results in Mexico, four-division world champion and boxing hall of famer Erik “El Terrible” Morales was overwhelmingly elected to be Diputado of District 07 in Tijuana, Baja California. The Cámara de Diputados is Mexico’s equivalent to the U.S. House of Representatives. “El Terrible” belongs to the “Juntos Haremos Historia” coalition that also won the presidency of the Mexican Republic and in the vast majority of the main offices of the country.

Morales, who garnered more than 65% of the votes, said “I feel grateful to all of Baja California citizens in these historic elections. Today we are celebrating because we will all fight for Mexico!”

Golden Boy Promotions has announced a partnership with Facebook to bring live boxing and original programming to a global community of fans on the platform.

The first of five live fight nights on Facebook will debut on August 11 and will feature Jesus Rojas (26-1-2, 19 KOs) defending his WBA World Featherweight Title against Joseph “JoJo “Diaz Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs) at the world-famous Avalon Theater in Hollywood. The second live fight will feature light heavyweight contender Sullivan Barrera (21-2, 14 KOs) against a soon-to-be-announced opponent on August 18 from the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The biggest disappointment of the acclaimed World Boxing Super Series is the lack of television coverage in the United States. As of now, no network has even picked up the finals.

However, the good news is that U.S. boxing fans won’t be shut out of WBSS Season 2.

DAZN, the world’s largest dedicated live sports streaming service, will exclusively carry all 15 fight nights, featuring 21 match-ups across the three tournaments promoted by COMOSA AG. Season 2 will begin September 2018 featuring three divisions: Bantamweight, Super-Lightweight and TBA. The three-year deal will include shoulder programming such as features on fighters and select match-ups that will be available on-demand on DAZN. DAZN will announce its official launch date and pricing this summer.

DiBella Entertainment returns to the beautiful Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, CT, with another evening of the acclaimed, long-running Broadway Boxing series on Saturday, July 21, headlined by undefeated junior welterweight prospect “Marvelous” Mykquan Williams (11-0, 7 KOs) against Matt “The Mantis” Doherty (8-4-1, 4 KOs) scheduled for eight rounds.

In the eight-round co-feature, popular New England female fighter Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent (22-1, 1 KO) will fight in a junior lightweight bout. Also featured in a six-round women’s bout will be WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon (9-1, 5 KOs).

The WBA super lightweight world championship will be contested between Kiryl Relikh and his WBA mandatory Eduard Troyanovsky (27-1, 24 KOs) in one of the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Super Series after the Russian former world champion has entered the tournament. 38-year-old Troyanovsky previously held the IBF title.

WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez (22-0, 16 KOs) will defend against Danny O’Connor (30-3, 11 KOs) in front of a huge hometown crowd on Saturday night at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. A 2012 Olympian, Ramirez has recently changed trainers from Freddie Roach to Robert Garcia. He is a 41:1 betting favorite to defeat O’Connor in his first world title defense. ESPN will televise.

“I want to fight all of the champions, but I have to take care of business July 7 against Danny O’Connor first,” said Ramirez. “I am excited to come home and defend my title. It’s going to be a great night for the Central Valley of California.”

The World Boxing Organization and the Illinois State Athletic Commission concluded a successful training seminar for boxing officials at the Garfield Park – Golden Dome, Chicago, Illinois.

This event covered different topics, such as refereeing, judging, rules, and ethics; the seminar followed an interactive format with the purpose of giving ring officials the necessary knowledge, confidence and experience to execute good judgement in a boxing match. Returning to the ring after an 11-month layoff due to a broken jaw, Joe “The Beast” Smith, Jr. (24-2, 20 KOs) made quick work of Melvin “The Romantic Redneck” Russell (11-5-2, 7 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Rated WBC #3 and WBA #7 in the world, Smith hurt Russell with the first punch he landed and finished the show, two devastating knockdowns later, in the opening round. Time was 1:45.

“I hit him with a decent shot when I was walking him down and saw that I hurt him,” Joe Smith Jr. explained. “So, I looked to end it. Ruben Villa (12-0) of Salinas, not known particularly for his punching power, turned on the juice and stopped Ricardo Lopez (7-3-2) of Mexico in the sixth round of their featherweight main event late Saturday night at the Omega Center in South Sacramento. Lopez was willing to mix but was outgunned during most of the scheduled eight-rounder and was dropped by a left-left-right combination for the only knockdown. Regaining his feet, he became easy prey for follow-up shots to force the stoppage.

The card, by Thompson Boxing Promotions, was held outdoors in the back lot of a commercial business. Portable lighting and seating, plus live streaming via Facebook still attracted several hundred fans to the makeshift venue featuring several Northern California fighters. Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker says WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has KO power and would start as the favorite to defeat IBF, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. “Personally I think Deontay Wilder takes it. Even though he is wild by name and nature, he is loose, elusive and has power,” Parker told Sunday Sport.

Bladensburg, MD female featherweight “The Dark Menace” Tiara Brown scored an impressive fifth-round TKO over Brittany “Pretty Girl” Cruz of Denver, CO in the main event of the Putney Promotions card at the Sphinx Club in Washington, DC.

Super lightweight contender Pedro “La Roca” Campa (29-1, 20 KOs) scored a fifth round technical decision over Domicio Rondon (18-4, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Gimnasio de Los Trabajadores del Metro in Mexico City. Campa dominated the fight from start to finish. In round four, Campa suffered a huge cut over his left eye caused by a headbutt and referee Guadalupe Garcia deducted a point from Rondon. Garcia stopped the action in round five and the ring doctor ruled Campa couldn’t continue. Scorecards were 50-44 on all three cards.

“I felt very good,” said Campa afterward. “I was getting into a rhythm and was a bit surprised by my rival’s stamina, but I was doing my job. WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez (38-0, 25 KOs) scored a forgettable twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten WBO #8 rated Roamer Alexis Angulo 23-1, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ramirez simply outboxed Angulo in compiling a 119-109, 120-108, 119-109 win. It was Ramirez’ fourth successful title defense.

Zurdo Ramirez: “He was undefeated. He came with a lot of hunger to try to take away my world title. I’m not happy with my performance, but I got the job done. I’m still a world champion. I want to go back to the gym to start training and evolve as a fighter. I want to unify titles and I want to be one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”

In a bloodbath, undefeated WBO #1, WBA #2 super lightweight Alex “El Cholo” Saucedo (28-0, 18 KOs) stopped WBO #7 Lenny Zappavigna (37-4, 27 KOs) in round seven of a sensational fight on Saturday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Both fighters were cut in the bout. Saucedo dropped Zappavigna in round three but Lenny Z fought back fiercely. In round four, Zappavigna battered Saucedo. Saucedo regained control in round five behind his jab. By the end of round six, Zappavigna’s left eye was closed and his face was a bloody mask. Zappa’s corner finally threw in the towel at 2:31 of round seven. Saucedo is now mandatory challenger for WBO 140lb champion Maurice Hooker.

2016 Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceicao (8-0, 5 KOs) easily outclassed Guavino Guaman (5-3, 1 KO) in a super featherweight clash. Conceicao floored Guaman in round one and twice in round two. Unbeaten Irish Olympic super featherweight hero Michael Conlan (8-0, 5 KOs) outboxed former world title challenger Adeilson Dos Santos (19-5, 15 KOs) over eight uneventful rounds on Saturday night at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The bout was scored by the referee 79-73 for Conlan in a tactical bout that never really heated up.

In a clash of unbeaten super lightweights, Jack Catterall (21-0, 12 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Tyrone McKenna (16-0-1, 6 KOs). Catterall lost a point in round two for hitting McKenna when he was on the canvas after being knocked down, but Catterall got the point back with another knockdown later in the round. Catterall dropped McKenna again in round five. McKenna came on in the later rounds and made it close on the cards. Scores were 95-91, 94-93, 94-93.

Unbeaten super featherweight Jono Carroll (16-0, 3 KOs) stopped Declan Geraghty (17-3, 4 KOs) with a barrage of punches in round nine. Time was 2:12.
