WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez (22-0, 16 KOs) will defend against Danny O’Connor (30-3, 11 KOs) in front of a huge hometown crowd on Saturday night at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. A 2012 Olympian, Ramirez has recently changed trainers from Freddie Roach to Robert Garcia. He is a 41:1 betting favorite to defeat O’Connor in his first world title defense. ESPN will televise.
“I want to fight all of the champions, but I have to take care of business July 7 against Danny O’Connor first,” said Ramirez. “I am excited to come home and defend my title. It’s going to be a great night for the Central Valley of California.”
