WBO #2 light middleweight Tim Tszyu has targeted WBO champion Patrick Texeira and WBO#1 Brian Castano after the demolition of Bowen Morgan at the BankWest Stadium in Sydney with 12,000 fans in attendance.

Sad to report that Hall of Fame broadcaster Colonel Bob Sheridan lost his dear wife Annie to breast cancer after a short illness. The Colonel met Annie in Spain 26 years ago and married in Boston one year later. They later moved to Las Vegas where they have lived for the past 22 years. The Colonel and Annie were inseparable during their marriage. Annie will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure to meet her. Rest In Peace Annie Sheridan

A world title bout between WBO minimumweight champion Wilfredo “Bimbito” Mendez and challenger Alexis Diaz slated to take place Wednesday night at the Hotel Catalonia Malecon Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was canceled after Mendez came down ill.

In the replacement main event, minimumweight Erick Rosa (2-0, 0 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Byron Castellon (15-14-3, 2 KOs).

In another notable bout, seven-time female world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (39-1-1, 29 KOs) needed just 1:39 to blow away Dahiana Santana (36-13, 15 KOs) in the first round.

Unbeaten IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant (20-0, 12 KOs) will defend his belt against Caleb Truax (31-4-2, 19 KOs) on January 30 at a site to be named. Truax briefly held the IBF belt three years ago and is looking to get it back. The bout will be televised on FOX. No site named, but so far all the post-COVID boxing events on FOX platforms have taken place in Los Angeles. The fight was announced Wednesday night on the FS1 boxing telecast.

Rising welterweight Eimantas Stanionis (12-0, 9 KOs) won by ninth round KO over Janer Gonzalez (19-4-1, 15 KOs) on Wednesday night without fans in attendance at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. 2016 Olympian Stanionis dropped Gonzalez with a hook to the liver in round two. Stanionis floored Gonzalez again with an uppercut at the end of round eight. A Stanionis overhand right put Gonzalez down for the third time in the ninth round and the bout was waved off. The pandemic and an injury kept Artur Beterbiev out of the ring in 2020, but boxing’s most devastating knockout artist has a blank canvas as he prepares to kick off Top Rank on ESPN’s 2021 championship schedule. Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs), the unified WBC and IBF light heavyweight world champion, will defend his titles on ESPN+ on January 30 against Adam Deines (19-1-1, 10 KOs) at VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia. A two-time Olympian from Russia’s Chechnya region, Beterbiev has never fought in his home nation as a professional.

“I’m excited to have the chance to fight in my home country of Russia,” Beterbiev said. “This fight against Adam Deines means a lot to me, and you can be sure that I am preparing accordingly to honor this opportunity.”

UFC Fight Pass has picked up Saturday’s card featuring cruiserweight southpaw Kevin “Two Guns” Lerena (25-1, 12 KOs) against Patrick Ferguson (17-2-1, 13 KOs) in a 12-rounder for Lerena’s IBO cruiserweight title from Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa. WBO #2, IBF #4, WBA #8, WBC #10 light middleweight Tim Tszyu (17-0, 13 KOs) scored a quick first round knockout over IBF #15 welterweight Bowyn Morgan (21-2, 11 KOs) on Wednesday night at the BankWest Stadium in Parramatta, NSW, Australia. Tszyu dropped Morgan with a barrage of shots midway through the round. Morgan beat the count, only to be flattened by a massive Tszyu right hand. Time was 1:54. “I only want one thing, a world title, here in Australia,” said Tszyu afterward.

Former rugby star-turned heavyweight boxer Paul Gallen (10-0-1, 5 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over ex-UFC fighter Mark Hunt (0-2-1). Scores 58-56, 58-56, 59-55.

The press conference of the Milano Boxing Night took place Tuesday at Raffaello Hotel in Milan, Italy. The event promoted by Opi Since 82-Matchroom-DAZN will take place next Thursday at historic Allianz Cloud. DAZN will stream it live. In the main event, European super bantamweight champion Luca Rigoldi (22-1-2 with 8 KOs) will defend against Gamal Yafai (17-1 with 10 KOs).
