Undefeated super middleweight superstar David “El Monstruo” Benavídez and unbeaten two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade went face-to-face Tuesday in Los Angeles at the final press conference before they headline this Saturday on PPV from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

David Benavidez: “It’s all fun and games but when I get in the ring, it’s not funny. I send all my opponents to the hospital. Look up my track record…I’m going to try to strike as soon as I get the opportunity to strike. I’m going to try to end it as soon as I can because I want to show the people that I am the best fighter and I will find a knockout against anybody. This is what the fans want to see. They want to see knockouts and they want to see people go to war.”

Demetrius Andrade: “We’re going to beat up Lord Farquaad over there. If you know what that is, you know and if you don’t, you don’t. Look it up. It’s going to be a great night. And the new! And still!”

The press conference also featured WBC middleweight world champion Jermall Charlo and José Benavídez Jr., who will meet in a 10-round non-title WBC special event in the co-main event.

Jermall Charlo: ]“He’s shook now that we’re in person. Look how immature he is. He’s not going to do anything on Saturday. I’m not fazed by anything he’s doing…I’m going to fight at the top of my level no matter if my opponent is talking trash or not. There’s something wrong with this dude obviously. He’s got a few screws missing. He must not know what he’s getting himself into. 32 have tried and they’ve all failed. He’s just a stepping stone. I’m going to step on him super hard. I’m going to crush him…I’m coming to knock him out. And when I say I’m going to do it, I do it.”

José Benavidez Jr: “I told him if he tries to get in my face or act tough, I’m going to whoop his ass. That’s exactly what I’m going to do on Saturday night. I’m just waiting until fight night…if I was just a stepping stone, why didn’t he put the belt on the line? He should be ready to fight for the belt. He’s the champion, right? He looks like a bum…I’m going to stop him. Charlo thinks I’m small for some reason. He thinks this is going to be a walk in the park. We’ll see. I’m going to beat him. He’s going to see what he’s really up against.”

Thurgood Marshall Promotions staged an exciting 6 bout card at Red Owl Boxing Arena in the Houston, TX suburb of Willowbrook Saturay evening. The sparkling 1200 seat arena opened in June and with cocktail tables, elevated theater-style seating, food, refreshments and a kicking DJ, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Heavyweights Zachary Spiller, Houston, and Forth Worth’s Aaron Chavers opened the show in a scheduled four rounder. The first round was a feel-em out stanza, as the 43 lb. heavier Spiller stalked, landed some body shots, while Chavers looked to stay out of harm’s way. Referee James Green halted matters after Chavers was trapped in a neutral corner, taking heavy bombardment, at 2:25 of round 2. Spiller now 4-0, 3 KOs, while Chavers slides to 9-13-1, 4 KOs. Report/Photos by Joe Koizumi

Newly Crowned Wbo Ap Ruler Deok Nun YunKorean 168-pound prospect Deok-No Yun (8-1, 6 KOs), 75.5 kg, impressively acquired the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super middleweight belt as he exchanged hot rallies with Australian Tej Pratap Singh (18-7-3, 8 KOs), 76.15 kg, had the right earlobe profusely bleeding and saw the referee call a halt to the grotesque bleeding at 2:15 of the sixth round in a scheduled twelve on Saturday in Seoul, Korea. From the outset they mixed it up in the close range with Yun overpowering the southpaw rival, who, however, fought back hard with solid body shots in the fourth. Before the stoppage, the Korean six-footer had leading on points: 49-46 twice, 48-47, all for the sturdy Korean Yun. The taller and physically stronger Yun repeatedly landed left hooks to the right earlobe, which began to bleed too profusely and grotesquely to go on. The Thai referee Surat made a well-received halt to have the Korean newly crowned with the crowd roaring to its feet. Korean boxing fraternity is coming back. Cuadras wins WBC interim superfly belt

Jalolov, Nursultanov win, ex-champ Molina defeated

By David Finger at ringside

It may have been the last place boxing fans would have expected to witness a pair of Mexican contenders clash for a vacant WBC world title, but in front of nearly 12,000 boxing fans in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Lift Promotions hosted what would prove to be a memorable night of boxing featuring two close friends in Carlos Cuadras and Pedro Guevara as they battled for the vacant super flyweight title. With WBC junior bantamweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3, 28KOs) looking to be sidelined until next year, the winner was looking to not only capture the interim belt, but establish themselves as the mandatory challenger to Estrada.

Although #3 ranked veteran Guevara was seen as the slight favorite going into the ring on November 17th at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, it would be the #2 ranked “Principe” Cuadras who would walk out of the ring with the WBC belt after capturing a split decision over his countryman.
