Former Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury, was on hand Thursday at Churchill Boxing Gym, formerly Wild Card West Gym, in Santa Monica, CA, just a few miles west of where he will be five weeks from now to challenge WBC Heavyweight Champion, Deontay Wilder, for, in the eyes of some, heavyweight supremacy.

Charismatic as ever, Fury was at ease while surrounded by media as he first spoke briefly about his upcoming showdown with Wilder before proceeding to dazzle those in attendance with his pad work in the squared circle.

Fury (27-0, 19KO) is coming off a dominant victory last August 18th over fringe contender Francesco Pianeta (35-4-1), with Fury winning a shutout decision victory. With his challenge of Wilder, Fury is attempting the near impossible in coming back from a 2+ year retirement to try to win against an undefeated reigning champion when he faces off against Wilder at Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 1st. ESPN+ has picked up the IBF featherweight world championship clash between current champ Josh Warrington and former two-division titlist Carl “The Jackal” Frampton at the Manchester Arena crowd on Saturday, December 22. Also, in a special attraction, top featherweight prospect Michael “Mick” Conlan will make his final ring appearance of 2018.

Newly signed with Main Events, veteran super middleweight Denis “Momma’s Boy” Douglin (21-6, 13 KOs) returns November 3 at The Aviator in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. His opponent is TBA. Douglin, who is trained by his mother Saphya Douglin, is coming off a solid decision victory in August over the previously undefeated Vaughn Alexander. The event, which can be seen on Facebook Live, is headlined by Sullivan Barrera versus “Irish” Seanie Monaghan.

Jermall Charlo will defend his WBC interim middleweight title against Willie Monroe, Jr. in the main event on FOX and FOX Deportes live in primetime on Saturday, December 22 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. In the co-feature, twin brother Jermell Charlo makes the fourth defense of his WBC super welterweight championship against Tony Harrison.

Jermall’s fight will serve as the main event of the show after he won the coin toss at today’s press conference to determine which Charlo twin will close the show. The coin toss was conducted by legendary heavyweight Gerry Cooney. With a call of heads on the WBC commemorative coin, Jermall won the right to be the headliner on fight night.

It was also announced that opening the show will be WBC mandatory heavyweight challenger and 2012 U.S. Olympian Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale against Carlos Negron in a 10-rounder.

“I was walking down the hall and she just came up to me, ‘hey, hey, hey, Roy Jones’ – and I was like, who is this? She asked me what I was doing tomorrow. I’m doing nothing tomorrow. So she’s like ‘we’re going to the gym tomorrow’. What gym? ‘There’s a gym in this hotel. We go tomorrow.’ And that was it.”

The legendary future Hall-of-Famer, four-division world champion and now-coach Roy Jones Jr. smiles when he tells the absurd story of how he met his lone female prodigy Ikram Kerwat at a WBC convention in Miami a couple of years back. The 34-year-old Kerwat from Tunisia, who now lives and boxes out of Berlin, Germany, took a brash chance – and it turned out to be the best decision of her career. “Of course I was kinda nervous”, she said. “But I knew something was going on here, I knew I had to do something and I had to do it this way. Hughie Fury looks forward to seizing the opportunity to challenge Anthony Joshua world titles but isn’t for a second underestimating his rival for the IBF mandatory position; Kubrat Pulev. Azizbek Abdugofurov (11-0, 4 KOs) will make the first defense of his WBC silver super middleweight title on November 18. His opponent will be Wuzhati Nuerlang (11-1, 9 KOs) of China. The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds and will be the main event at the WBC Asia Summit. The site will be the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila, Philippines. Abdugofurov, managed by Vikram Swapragasam, has been moved rather quickly. He scored his biggest victory to date this past May soundly defeating former world champion Dmitrii Chudinov by decision.

The ‘Sniper’ guarantees there will be a surprise on Dec. 8 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A quartet of legendary world champions from the Beltway region will headline the latest class of inductees into the Washington, DC Boxing Hall of Fame on Friday, November 9th at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD.

International Boxing Hall of Famer Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson will be inducted into the DC hall. After losing his second pro fight in March of 1990, Johnson (44-5, 28 KO’s) reeled off 27 consecutive victories leading to his first world title opportunity. Johnson would capture the vacant IBF Flyweight title with a stunning first-round knockout over former world champion Francisco Tejedor on May 4th, 1996 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, CA. The Face of Boxing welcomes the Future of Boxing to camp as Eddy Reynoso will now be the head trainer of super featherweight prospect Ryan “Kingry” Garcia. The future looks bright for the young star as he takes a monumental step forward in his career exactly one decade after Canelo Alvarez made his debut in the United States.

“We are going to start right away, tomorrow is our first day, we had two meetings previously. To me, Ryan is a very dedicated fighter, very joyful. He wants to learn so we are here to help him. I followed him all of his career and I know how he is. We’re going to work on his defense, his counterpunching, and many more things to make him a better fighter. He has natural talent so it’s just a matter of working hard,” concluded Eddy Reynoso.

Highly touted unbeaten welterweight prospect Jaron Ennis (21-0, 19 KOs) will square off against 11-year professional Raymond Serrano (24-5, 10 KOs) in a Philadelphia vs. Philadelphia 10-round bout in the main event of ShoBox: The New Generation, Friday, November 16 live on Showtime from 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

The three-fight telecast features five ShoBox veterans and three fighters who call Philadelphia home. In the co-feature, a pair of ShoBox veterans meet when Chicago’s Kenneth Sims Jr. (13-1-1, 4 KOs) takes on Philadelphia’s Samuel Teah (14-2-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round super lightweight bout.

Also on the card, undefeated Ukrainian Arnold Khegai (13-0-1, 9 KOs) faces New Jersey’s Jorge Diaz (19-5-1, 10 KOs) in an eight-round super bantamweight bout.

From heavyweight to junior flyweight, a pair of world-class bouts with significant implications will be showcased in the coming days on ESPN+.

In a 12-round heavyweight title elimination bout this Saturday, Oct. 27 from the Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria, hometown favorite Kubrat Pulev (25-1, 13 KOs) will take on Hughie Fury (21-1, 11 KOs). The Pulev-Fury stream will begin at 4 p.m. ET.

The action continues from the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City, Philippines, on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 a.m. ET when Felix Alvarado (33-2, 29 KOs) battles Randy Petalcorin (29-2-1, 22 KOs) for the vacant IBF junior flyweight world title. In the co-feature, Giemel Magramo (21-1, 17 KOs) will defend the WBO Oriental flyweight belt in a 12-rounder against Sebastian Sanchez (11-5, 8 KOs).

This Tuesday at the Ex Hacienda de Cortés in the Coyoacán Delegation in Mexico City was the scene of the WBC’s traditional “Coffee Tuesday.” The meeting that was full of memories to celebrate the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Mexico 1968. One of the athletes competing in that event was legendary heavyweight champion George Foreman, who won the Olympic gold medal.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman stated, “This day has a very special meaning because it is necessary to take a few minutes to remember the glory of having been the venue for a sporting event as important as the Olympic Games. Middleweights Daniel Jacobs and Sergiy Derevyanchenko took part in a public workout on Tuesday at the EverybodyFights Gym on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. They meet Saturday for the vacant IBF middleweight belt in the main event of on HBO from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Former world champion Jacobs (34-2, 29 KOs) is a narrow -170 favorite over Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs).

The main event will feature veterans Prince Badi Ajamu (29-5-1, 15 KOs) and Anthony “The Bull” Caputo Smith (16-8, 11 KOs) competing for the WBF Silver cruiserweight belt. Power-punching IBF #1 light flyweight Felix Alvarado (33-2, 29 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua, is just days away now from his third world title attempt. He has arrived to the Philippines where he will face #3 Randy Petalcorin (29-2-1, 22 KOs) of General Santos City, Philippines on October 29th for the vacant 108lb world title. The site of the event will be the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City, Philippines.

Both fighters are attempting to win their first absolute world title. Petalcorin will have the support of the local fans, but Alvarado says he’s unfazed by this and is dialed in mentally so that his third crack at a world title is a successful one.
