By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker has praised WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury as the best heavyweight of this era and says the Gypsey King will be a hot favorite to repeat his victory over Deontay Wilder when they clash in their third encounter.

”He’s the biggest in the division. He’s number one. He’s the best in our era,” Parker told the UK’s Sky Sports. ”It will be the same result, a Fury win. In the second fight he demolished him. In the third fight he would be in even better shape and would be the same result. We took a photo with the belts. Hopefully one day I can hold them again.”

Horn trying to keep weight in check

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn (20-2-1, 13 KOs) is doing his best to keep his weight down while the coronavirus outbreak has stopped him doing his regular workouts with trainer Glenn Rushton as he waits for the rescheduled date for his clash with fellow Australian IBF #6, WBO #9 light middleweight Tim Tszyu (15-0, 11 KOs) in Townsville, Queensland.

“Food comes into the mind as an excitement at times like this when you have nothing else to do but I really need to try as hard as I cannot to think about that,” Horn told Main Event Boxing podcast’s host Ben Damon. “I’m probably one of those people that’s really going to struggle at this point in time. COVID-19 draws fans to 9-year-old boxing game

FightnightchampionBy Karl Freitag

With COVID-19 causing all the live boxing action to be cancelled for the time being, boxing aficionados are being forced to find other ways to enjoy their favorite sport. One way is to rewatch classic fights. Another way is to view simulated fantasy matchups.

The current “eWBSS Heavyweight Legends” tournament is being simulated on EA Sports ‘Fight Night Champion’ video game in computer vs. computer mode. Although created by EA Sports back in 2011, the game is still considered by many to be the best boxing video game created to date. It was made for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. One reason it hasn’t been updated since is the nightmarish licensing boondoggle required to use fighter’s likenesses. This is the reason major stars like Floyd Mayweather are missing from the 2011 version.

In addition to the eWBSS tournament, on Saturday night light heavyweights Shakan Pitters (13-0, 4 KOs) and Chad Sugden (11-1-1, 4 KOs) will meet in another simulated EA Sports Fight Night Champion match. They were scheduled to clash for the British title Saturday night, but will now face off in a digital boxing ring. Continue reading “COVID-19 draws fans to 9-year-old boxing game”

Boxing junkies getting their fix on fight videos

With no boxing currently going on, networks have been forced to replay “greatest hits” fights. On Monday night ESPN presented both Fury-Wilder fights, and Wednesday night it was a five-hour telecast featuring Tyson Fury, Terence Crawford, Teofimo Lopez, Michael Conlan and Mayweather-Pacquiao.

On Saturday night, Showtime will re-air three of the epic Israel Vázquez vs. Rafael Márquez fights, apparently leaving out their fourth meeting.

Of course, there are lots of boxing replays for DAZN and ESPN+ subscribers, and tons of full matches and extended highlights on YouTube, so there is no shortage of boxing to watch. But as Chicago promoter Bobby Hitz is fond of saying…
