Detroit-Carlos Llinas’ Night of Knockouts proved to be a great show showcasing upcoming talented prospects, as well as some veterans of the sport. Darryl Cunningham (43-10, 19 KOs) has been the King of Soundboard Theater in Motor City Casino and Hotel. Labeled as “The People’s Choice” by the fans, Darryl had the plans on one more run to the top. In Cunningham’s way was Antonio Hernandez. Hernandez proving records do not mean anything in this sport, was feared amongst some of the people that surround the Detroit boxing scene as perhaps Darryl’s toughest opponents he has faced. Rising prospect, Najee Lopez (2-0, 2 KOs), continues to turn heads as a professional, as he scored a dynamic second-round knockout last night, Friday, November 19, 2021, against Anthony Hollaway (3-1-2, 3 KOs). The 4-round bout has the main event and took place at Buckhead Fight Club in Atlanta, GA, Lopez’ hometown, and was promoted by Garry Jonas of Pro Box Promotions.

“I’m coming fast and hard at cruiserweight. People will soon mention me with the likes of Usyk and Evander Holyfield,” said Najee Lopez after getting a knockout win that saw his opponent fall through the ropes.

Unbeaten WBO flyweight champion Junto Nakatani (22-0, 17 KOs), Japan, will put his belt on the line against #9 Cristian Gonzalez (14-1, 4 KOs), Mexico, on the undercard of the sensational middleweight showdown between WBA super champ Ryota Murata and IBF ruler Gennady Golovkin in Saitama, Japan, on December 29. WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “BooBoo” Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs) delivered on his promise to destroy Jason “El Animal” Quigley (19-2, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

From the onset, it was clear that Andrade had much more power than Quigley. Andrade dropped Quigley in round one, however Quigley was able to survive. Andrade dropped Quigley twice more in round two with a barrage of bunches putting Quigley away at 2:24.

In a Mexico vs. Puerto Rico showdown, WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez (18-1 14 KOs) and McWilliams Arroyo (21-4 16 KOs) ended in a no contest on Friday night on the Andrade-Quigley undercard at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. Both Martinez and Arroyo were on the canvas in round one. Arroyo was cut over the right eye and dropped again in round two. After round two, Arroyo said he couldn’t see and the match was halted.

Unified WBA and IBF super bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev (10-0, 7 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision against rugged late sub José Velásquez (29-7-2 19 KOs) on Friday night on the Andrade-Quigley undercard at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. Velásquez had Akhmadaliev holding on after a body shot in round seven, but otherwise it was all Akhmadaliev. He repeatedly landed jabs and body combinations. Velasquez worked to press the action but was not able to get past Akhmadaliev’s defense and counter punching. Scores were 119-109 3x.

In the second step on the path to crowning an undisputed women’s champion at 140lbs, WBA champion Kali Reis (19-7-1, 5 KOs) scored a ten round split decision over Jessica Camara (8-3, 0 KOs) in a bout for the WBA and vacant WBO straps Friday night on the Andrade-Quigley undercard at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. Competitive fight. Scores were 97-93, 97-93 Reis, 95-94 Camara.

Undefeated Australian IBF #11, WBO #12 heavyweight Demsey McKean (20-0, 13 KOs) won his American debut with a sixth round TKO against Don Haynesworth (16-8-1, 13 KOs). A barrage of punches stopped Haynesworth with a barrage of punches at :27.

Boxing is a tough sport. But more than that, it is a tough business. Talent often can only get you so far in the sport, and the history of boxing is littered with talented prospects who had all of the tools to become a world champion only to fall short. For some of them it was some fatal flaw in their game. Maybe they had a bad chin. Maybe they couldn’t keep it going for twelve rounds. An open workout was held in at Beast Boxing in Myrtle Beach, SC, in anticipation of tomorrow night’s ‘Mayhem In Myrtle 4’ boxing show at Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark, presented by Christy Martin Promotions.

In attendance were several of the fighters participating, including undefeated super featherweight fighting Benigno ‘Benny’ Aguilar (6-0, 3 KOs); lightweight Brandon Idrogo (4-1, 4 KOs), female fighter Destiny ‘Too Sweet’ Jones (1-0), USA #1 super heavyweight amateur turning professional on the show Fernely Feliz Jr. and the promoter herself, Christy Salters Martin, the now-retired female boxing superstar and now star of Netflix’s Untold: Deal with the Devil. Also in attendance was brand-new UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira, who corners Feliz. Teixeira will also be attending Saturday’s fights.

The difference in size is apparent as undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu face off on the final day of the 59th WBC Convention in Mexico City. They are expected to collide next year.

Professional boxing returned to Rochester, NY on Thursday night albeit only two matches that were contested. The first half of the program put together by Pretty Girl Promotions featured seven competitive amateur contests that the fans enjoyed enthusiastically. Unbeaten heavyweight Sonny Conto (8-0, 7 KOs) got a test for a couple of rounds, but he passed it with flying colors as he stopped Joel Caudle (8-6-2, 5 KOs) in round three of a scheduled six-round heavyweight bout in front of a capacity crowd at the inaugural fight card at Live Casino Hotel Philadelphia.

Caudle stood in and landed some flush shots. Conto gave as good as he received as he rocked Caudle several times over the first two rounds. In round three, Caudle continued to stand in and wanted to trade with the bigger Conto., but Conto landed a huge right hand that sent Caudle to the deck, which made the pro-Conto crowd erupt in adulation. Caudle got to his feet, but was wobbly, and referee Benjy Esteves stopped the fight at the end of round three. Five straight losses for Caudle. Consensus pound-for-pound king Saul “Canelo” Alvarez had been on the special invitees list for this year’s convention, but coming off his epic win to unify all four 168 lb belts less than two weeks ago, it looked as if Canelo would take a pass on coming, that is until today. The best fighter on the planet did indeed appear before the WBC board and remaining guests, to the delight of everyone on hand. He even came face-to-face with his apparent next foe – WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu.

The two warriors were cordial toward each other with handshakes and an embrace – a far cry from the face-to-face with Caleb Plant, which erupted into a shoving, face-slapping melee.

Said a confident Makabu, “Canelo is the best boxer on the planet right now. So, I want to fight the best, and I accept, but there will be no catchweight for this fight. Canelo wants to prove to people that he can do better than others and I am quite prepared to let Canelo try for this dream, but I`ve got my also story to write down. Yes, this is boxing. The undercard for Saturday’s PPV clash between WBO welterweight world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford and two-time champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter had center stage on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The co-feature, a 12-round IBF middleweight world title eliminator, will see Brazilian 2012 Olympic silver medalist Esquiva “La Pantera” Falcao fight fellow unbeaten Patrice Volny. The PPV also includes a 10-round middleweight tilt between rising star Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly and former world champion Hassan N’Dam, and an eight-round lightweight duel between unbeaten prospect Raymond “Danger” Muratalla and Elias Araujo.

Before the PPV begins, ESPN2 and ESPN+ will feature former junior featherweight world champion Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe against two-time title challenger Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz, and an eight-round featherweight rematch between Adam Lopez and Adan Ochoa.

Popular broadcaster Paulie Malignaggi will return to the airwaves on Saturday for the first time since being cancel-cultured from Showtime. Paulie will be commentating on the BOXXER’s Sky Sports telecast from SSE Arena in London.

“I’m delighted to be back!,” said The Magic Man. “It’s always a great experience to be able to work fights here in the UK, mingle with the fans, mingle with the press here. Just to be able to soak in the energy and the passion for boxing that is in the UK, it’s always an incredible experience. I always end up leaving here with a smile on my face and feeling energized.”

In the main event, cruiserweight Richard Riakporhe (12-0, 8 KOs) battles Olanrewaju Durodola (36-8, 33 KOs) for the WBC ‘silver’ title.

Triller has announced TrillerVerz IV set for Thursday, December 2 with a “Night of Heavyweights’ at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The main event of the all-heavyweight telecast is a ten-round battle of undefeateds as Cassius ‘C.O.G.’ Chaney, (21-0, 14 KOs) goes against ‘Gentleman’ George Arias, (16-0, 7 KOs).

Co-featured is a scheduled ten-rounder between two more undefeated heavyweights as ‘Son of a Legend’ knockout artist Trey Lippe-Morrison, (18-0, 17 KOs) faces former NFL linebacker Mike Balogun, (17-0, 13 KOs).

In a WBC female heavyweight world title bout, Hannah ‘La Amazona Black’ Gabriels, (21-2-1, 12 KO’s) defends her title for first time against undefeated Danielle Perkins, (3-0, 1 KO) over ten rounds.

Featured in a scheduled ten-round heavyweight battle, Andrey Fedesov, (32-3, 26 KOs) faces Junior ‘Hurricane’ Wright, (18-3-1, 15 KOs).

Fighting in an eight-round heavyweight scrap, Jerry ‘Slugger’ Forrest, (26-4-1, 20 KOs) battles Joe ‘Louis’ Jones, (12-4, 9 KOs).

Tim Tszyu: “I was surprised (Inoue’s durability) I kept hitting him with everything. He is a warrior – a Japanese warrior – respect to him. Being able to grind out twelve rounds with a durable opponent. If a fighter is in the top fifteen, of course, it’s going to be a challenge.

“There is no such thing as easy fights at this level. I felt like I won all the rounds in all honesty. I will have to watch the fight. I was in control the whole time and kept pressing forward.
