Mike Tyson: I still work out every day

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Hall of Famer Mike Tyson had to control his fear when he stepped into the ring and still works out each day to stay in shape. “I never thought I could handle being a fighter. It just was. I’ve never been able to handle it. You always get nervous. I’m nervous now. That’s just part of life. I believe from my experience that the feeling is a natural defense mechanism. You rise to the occasion or you freeze. You learn to deal with that,” Tyson said to actor Kenan Thompson.

“What is a normal person? It has nothing to do with being an athletic person, it’s about your morale. Fighting has a lot to do with morality too. It’s not about taking it, it’s the willingness to die, that’s what life is. When you stand up to it you no longer have to fear it,” Tyson said. Ali, the most-watched boxer in movies

Many human behavior analysts have always wondered why some people who conceive boxing as a brutal and primitive sport, leave such criteria aside when they go to the movies or watch it on TV. They have fun and even cheer excitedly when they watch a “fake” fight on the screen. However, they do not react in the same way if it is a documentary on boxing, which they watch with complete indifference. Continue reading “Ali, the most-watched boxer in movies”

Fenech: Mike Tyson would KO Wilder

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Hall of Famer Jeff Fenech says former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson would have knocked out former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder if they had fought in their primes.

“Boxing’s not the same now. I’d guarantee that if Mike Tyson trained for six weeks, he’d knock Wilder out in a minute,” Fenech told Sporting News. “He would hit them. If these guys are getting knocked out by Tyson Fury – who’s a great fighter, but not a huge puncher – Tyson would kill these guys. They’re not on the same level today.”
