Hrgovic, Smith, Giyasov victorious

2016 Olympic bronze medalist and WBA #6, WBC #11, IBF #12 heavyweight Filip Hrgovic (9-0, 7 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Manuel “Chabelo” Heredia (16-7-1, 13 KOs) in the Estrada-Beamon co-feature on Saturday night at the Centro de Usos Múltiples in Hermosillo, Mexico. Hrgovic dropped Heredia with a right hand and the bout was waved off. Time was :43.

Former WBO super welterweight champion Liam “Beefy” Smith (28-2-1, 16 KOs) scored a seventh round TKO over Mario Alberto “Águila” Lozano (33-10, 24 KOs). Smith battered Lozano to the canvas in round six and got a referee’s stoppage in round seven. Time was 1:02.

Unbeaten super lightweight Shakhram Giyasov (9-0, 7 KOs) needed just 41 seconds to obliterate former WBA lightweight champion Darleys Perez (34-6-2, 22 KOs). A crushing left hook to the jaw ended Perez’ night.

Light-punching recent IBF super featherweight title challenger Jono “King Kong” Carroll (17-1-1, 3 KOs) moved up to lightweight and outscored Eleazar “Tronco” Valenzuela (20-12-4, 16 KOs) over ten. Judges had it 98-92 3x.

Hot super middleweight prospect Alexis Espino (4-0, 3 KOs) scored a sudden third round KO over Oscar Soto (1-2, 0 KOs). A huge left hook took out Soto. Time 1:49.

Featherweight Irving Turrubiates (21-0, 13 KOs) outpointed Neil John Tabano (17-7, 11 KOs) over ten uneventful rounds. Scores were 98-92, 98-92, 97-93.
