Former world champion Amir Khan commented on his loss to archrival Kell Brook in their grudge match Saturday night in Manchester, England. “I’m very upset. I just couldn’t get it going,” Khan told Sky Sports afterward. “I have fallen a little bit short. Obviously, he was the best man today. I was catching Kell with some good shots, but I’m not blaming anyone. I had a great training camp but couldn’t get going. I was falling short and missing a lot. Kell was on his A-game today…The fans came out today and 90% must have been for me. I want to apologize. Obviously, it didn’t go my way today.

“I need to sit down with my family, but it is more towards the end of my career. Obviously, the love of the sport isn’t there anymore. That is a sign for me that I should maybe be calling it a day.”

  • Yes, after a career of being an overrated loudmouth, time to eat some humble pie and disappear.

    • Khan may be a lot of things but he was a warrior that would fight anyone , anytime , anywhere even when he was the A side.

        • You may be right but Khan is harmless and most people were able to see right through him especially after getting blown away in 30 seconds during the Prescott fight. After experiencing Prince Naseem Hamed’s antics, Khan was mild in comparison.

  • It’s time to retire and enjoy your family..
You gave us fans a lots of entertaining fights and we always will be grateful for that. Take care Amir wish you the best..

    • Spot on! Very good fighter, but not great! He accomplished more than 99% of the people that go into boxing! No harm no foul

    • Well said! He had a fantastic career. World champion. Olympic silver medalist. Beat Maidana and Judah and Malignaggi and Devon Alexander. Shared the ring with Crawford and Canelo

      • Thank you for the reply, the haters can hate all they want but Amir always fought the best win or lose and would’ve in my opinion earned a shot at both Mayweather and Pacquiao, he would’ve gave them a run for their money in his prime.

      • Well said Khan went and fought alot of good names and fighters. His stats say it all. But it is time to hang up his gloves and enjoy his fruits of labour

  • i hope he leave boxing before he gets hurt he has kids family ami dad my slef dont wanna see him get hurt

  • Had a good career, nothing to be ashamed of. Clearly he’s had a much more successful than any of us here.

  • Khan has shown great heart win, lose. Has had fast skills and achieved alot and been humble.
    Good luck and enjoy retirement.

  • No need for apologies, not like you got old overnight. You have been chinny from the get go, enjoy your retirement

  • People can see what they want about Khan but he is a true warrior who was willing to fight anyone, anytime, anywhere even when he was the A-side. Win, lose or draw all the respect to Khan

  • lets hope he does retire he finished and ride off into the sunset all fighters have to recognize when there time is up he has made a truckload of money,
I’m sure he also realize this
lets hope he stops took some pretty heavy shots today no need to continue

  • Regardless of his chin limitations, Khan was a solid fighter. I will always wonder how much more winning Khan could have accomplished, if he had a solid chin.

Enjoy your retirement and thanks, Khan.

  • He was losing and was hurt almost in every round, but I wanted to see him go out on his shield.

  • Lot of haters on here. Truth is Khan was a big name, especially in the UK. He made a ton of money, fought some great fights, and accomplished more than most. Win or lose, his fights were entertaining and it’s been fun watching him over the years. He always went out on his shield and for that he deserves respect. Time to think of his health and retire.

  • Ya think? You should have called it a day years ago. In fact, you were never really that good with your class chin.

  • KHAN YOU DID THE BEST YOU COULD AND NO REASON TO FEEL BAD… IN ALL FAIRNESS YOU SHOULD RETIRE AND GO TRAIN FIGHTERS… I’D HATE TO SEE YOU GET HURT BOXING KHAN… GOOD LUCK KHAN…. AND THIS IS CHIPPERRRRRRRR

  • Enjoyed that fight last night. Pisses me off how much everyone is going into the ‘passed it’ argument. Yeah they are not peak but they 35 ffs. It would have always happened. He can’t (khan’t?) take a shot. So if anyone has any timing at all , they beat him up. Khan fans are like shit versions of Tyson fans, where all judgement is based on this one short short period of time when he was optimum. Noone else gets this privilege. People still talk about Lennox fighting a shit Tyson and Lennox was older! Khan was spectacular to watch when he looked good but was always shit deep down for the obvious reason

  • Khan keeps getting these big paydays and he’s not on that level. Must be nice. I’d like to get in there and talk shit and keep getting paid. Maybe Khan should keep fighting people seem to enjoy watching him get kid but I don’t want to see him get hurt. Doesn’t boxing have anybody else at that weight class?

  • Khan never impressed me IMHO especially with that jaw. However, he did accomplish a lot and earned a lot of money. Will not got down as a Hall of fame IMO. I would enjoy retirement if I was him.

  • A loss for Khan should not make him to lack love for the sport. If he still has age and energy on his side the he should soldier on.He needs to look at sharpening his boxing skills even more.Rather hang gloves graciously on a peak than hang them with a blemish. He is a gifted boxer and that history cannot just diminish with a loss.

  • I think Khan was a good boxer especially when he beat Maidana that was epic
Spend quality time with family .
