  • First, I think this is a great match up!

Hunter as well as Povetkin are elite fighters who are knocking on the door to get title fights.

If Povetkin loses, his career may be over; if he wins he will get yet another title shot. So, there is by far more at stake for Povetkin than for Hunter.

As far as predictions go, I think that Povetkin is still not too old to perform on the highest level. I think it will be a very competitive and interesting fight, and I tend to slightly favor Povetkin. No result would surprise me though – incl. a draw or even KO win by Hunter.

  • Hunter is gleaming with confidence and truly believes he will win. A person has to admire his perseverance in feeling this way as it demonstrates the euphoria to topple obstacles. Povetkin has been on the big stage before and this is nothing new for him. Regardless of Povetkin’s past bump in the road with a controversial outcome over the use of PEDS, he still remains a viable fighter that can still deliver an edge. Povetkin is standing on a cliff in this fight. Losing means jumping off the cliff and falling into a potential retirement while a win means you stand tall looking over the valley for another possible title shot if one’s advancing age does not dictate your fate.

    • Even if he wins I dubt Povetkin will get another title chance.Since all sanction bodies has mandatories, which means that he’ll need to wait for years for title shot and he is 40 yo.Still this is first time in years that he’ll have size advantage. It will be interesting fight.Hunter is bookie favourite but I’ll give 60-40 in favour of Povetkin.
