Sad to report the passing of legendary boxing official Manuel Landero of Panama at the age of 98. Landero had been a member of the WBA since 1967 when he joined the officers’ committee and eventually ended up as a supervisor in world title fights. In 1982, it was Landero who nominated Gilberto Mendoza Sr. for president of the WBA. He then carried out extensive lobbying to convince other WBA members to elect Mendoza.
Can you really be sad by anyone who passes at 98? We should all be so lucky. Sounds like a life well lived to me.
