After being totally destroyed, what’s next for Smith Jr?
Smith still capable of continuing his boxing career. However, reaching for the gold in those belts will be put on hold till the champions get their affairs settled. Smith’s endeavors at this point in his career must be defined as…money? belts? something to do? Only Smith can answer these questions.
He’s gone up to cruiser and I don’t think Smith should do that, but I would love to see Smith vs Kovalev. Otherwise, maybe the last guy Beterbiev beat, Marcus Browne – all NYC fight.
Respect to anyone who steps in the squared circle! regardless of how you get there, it’s only you and the other guy in the end; and that takes guts….
Work on overall boxing skills. Smith has done admirably considering he’s learning a lot on the job. Have a couple of fights with journeymen who can give him some rounds and then come back again versus top contenders.
retirement you mean. He has been on the downside since Bivol. He beat two nobodies barely since. He is done. His eyes say it.
What was Anthony Yarde even doing there? The only thing he would get out of a fight with Beterbiev is a paycheck and a career ending beatdown. He was praying for the miracle that somehow Joe Smith would somehow win that fight because a guy like Yarde is made to order for Beterbiev to destroy. The only way he would make it out the 1st round is if Beterbiev let him, which would be entirely possible. He seems to like to take his time.

Smith is done . Expect his statement of retirement. He lost to both belt holders . His beatdown of Bernard is his high point. His ears are still ringing from Beiterbev.
Looking at these pics, it’s refreshing to see a boxer not covered in tattoos. At first I thought it was the work ethic, desire to fight & the black trunks, socks & shoes that made Beterbiev remind me of an old-time fighter, but it’s also the fact that he has no tattoos!
Who cares about the tatoos
