The Open House attracted the largest ever group of inductees, both past and present, beginning at 12:00 noon with some SJC boxers working out and sparring. It was a fun day with refreshments, book signings, autographs and photographs.

Famed ring announcer Bob Alexander began the official ceremonies at 3pm. He started with a 10-count for those we lost since the June 2019 Induction weekend. Then, as each name and bio was read, those present came up to say a few words.
Afterward, a group of about 30 inductees and families enjoyed a nice dinner at the nearby KJ’s Steakhouse.

The FBHOF Induction Weekend will be held at the Westshore Grand in Tampa on June 19, 20 and 21, 2020.

  • That’s a pretty fair list of fighters. Nice to see the late Jeff Sims included. Boy could he crack.

  • I remember when Jeff Lacy was a hard hitter and everyone wanted to see him fight Joe Calzaghe. When they did fight, Calzaghe shattered Lacy in the ring and literally shut him out. Lacy had some ups and downs in life. His brother, Hydra, had a long list of crimes and spent time in prison. Unfortunately, the media really hammered hard on Jeff Lacy in 2011 when his brother was in a police shoot out and it made national news. The media over did it by over-glamorizing Jeff’s name on TV by saying who his brother was as a criminal. It was very annoying. Jeff had nothing to do with it, but used his name as a vehicle for ratings. Overall, Jeff was entertaining to watch.

      • Nope, just raising awareness of what happened. If you read my post closely, I said what the media did was annoying and how they used Jeff’s name as a weapon to crank their tune-in ratings. I am not bashing Lacy nor am I after ratings. Learning by example can help keep ourselves in-check with direct/indirect media exposure and how it can play against us.

  • Congrats everyone.. Jeff, Rocky, Emilio, Bonnie and Olando and everyone.. great crew! Well deserved.. godbless..
