Dubois-Joshua Final Press Conference

IBF heavyweight champon Daniel Dubois and former unified champion Anthony Joshua faced off at the final press conference for their $19.99 PPV clash on Saturday in London.

Anthony Joshua: “It’s good to be back. I’m ready to rumble and remind everyone what I’m capable of…I could win in a variety of ways. I’m not depending on punch power. It takes a lot more than that to be a great fighter. I’ve got the fighting spirit and that’s how I’ll break him down, with my spirit.”

Daniel Dubois: “It’s a resurrection story of my career. I want the big challenges, to make a name for myself and to make history…I need to retain this world title. It’s a great thing to have but I need to legitimize myself by winning this fight.”

  • “I need to retain this world title.” Um…hey Dubois you are not a world champion. The belt you have is about as good as used toilet paper. But I am rooting for you all the same. Good luck.

  • Dubois can outthink, out youth, and outpace Joshua. If he decides to. I just hope he doesn’t get intimidated or let Joshua get in his head.

  • Just on boxing ability alone, a Joshua is supposed to take this one, even if it’s by decision. I highly doubt that it will though. The difference will be the speed. If Dubois makes the mistake of giving Joshua confidence and an open lane trying to get in, an uppercut-hook combo is going to end the fight in a nasty fashion like the Nganou fight. Dubois gets hot clearly much too easy and you cannot do that with a heavyweight.

If Dubois can place doubt in Joshua’s mind and get some clean hits along the way, Joshua might just have a flashback of when things don’t go his way. This will depend on head movement from Daniel. He will HAVE to slip punches if he wants to win. It’s their for the taking.

It’s a good fight at a great price. I hope that this fight sells incredibly high numbers, sending a message for future fights and pricing. The people have been paying a high price for mediocre matchups for far too long. There are exceptions like the firestick crew. Shoutouts to Gary for the recommendations.

    • I expect a KO but inside of 6 is a tough call. I expect Joshua to land early and Dubois being forced to weather the storm. Dubois will try to drag him deep and fight through the pain like he did against Hrgovic. Early on, it looked like Hrgovic would KO him early, and Dubois turned the tide after a few rounds. Both guys hit a ton.
