It’s actually not a bad idea. Better quality than a sparring partner, keeps your blade shard and within reasonable weight.
The rules are constantly bent and ignored in Alvarez’s favor. Now that we have Benavides looking over the shoulder, all of a sudden the “mandatory” becomes the point of interest. Sign the fight with David and take on Scull as a stay-busy fight in the meantime.
Nothing wrong with that, Chavez and many of the greats did the same to keep the blade sharp.

How tf is a fighter who only fought lowtier twigs is no 1 in the IBF ranking, and much worse, should be entitled to fight Canelo? Even his compatriot Morrell with much better resume doesn´t get a title shot against Canelo.

It’s sad that boxing is the only sport with absolutely NO INTEGRITY. What legitimte sport allows fighters to pick & choose their opponents while hiding behind promoters. Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Golf, etc. are all structured with scoring systems & playoffs that can at least help to determine true champions with some degree of transparency. If Canelo doesn’t fight Benavidez in May, ppl should boycott his next fight. I honesty think he’s scared of him PERIOD!!!
