  • This is ridiculous. Fury should’ve been stripped of his title immediately after he retired. He shouldn’t be allowed to announce his retirement, so he can escape being pressured to defend it against contenders while he sits around picking his nose and waiting until the most lucrative matchup can be made. Now he gets an extra week to try to make that matchup with Usyk? I’m just not a fan of his act, his abilities, the hype surrounding him, or the low standard he represents from a historical perspective.

    • Yeah sort of like Floyd whk did what he wanted when he wanted?? Hand picked everyone he fought and made the rules for his own “fights”.

    • On what basis should he have been stripped, exactly? Fury has met every defense obligation the WBC has thrown his way, and while he announced a retirement, he apparently didn’t relinquish the WBC’s title in writing – which is akin to telling someone you’re going to quit your job but still showing up for work.

I’m no Fury apologist by any means, but under its own rules the WBC shouldn’t be placing a demand on Fury to advise them of his status at all – the earliest they should (under their rules) be able to strip him is once he reaches the deadline for his next (non-mandatory) defense.

  • Sorry for his loss but the WBC is crazy and lame for not stripping him of his belt. As soon as he said he was retired they should’ve vacated the belt. This would teach fighters to quit toying with retirement just as a stunt
