Tickets went on sale today for the bout between WBC, WBO junior lightweight king Shakur Stevenson and Robson Conceição on September 23 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. In the eight-round lightweight co-feature, Tokyo 2020 U.S. Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis returns against an opponent to be named. Stevenson-Conceição and Davis’ bout will air live on ESPN.
“The sensational Shakur Stevenson is a once-in-a-generation boxing talent, and he’s back home in Newark as a world champion against a worthy contender in Robson Conceição,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “I also can’t wait to see young talents like Keyshawn Davis and Bruce Carrington perform on such a significant card.”
The undercard, streaming live and exclusively on ESPN+, is highlighted by the fifth professional outing of featherweight Bruce Carrington, who hails from Brownsville, Brooklyn. Carrington (4-0, 3 KOs) will fight Chilean veteran Jose Argel (8-4, 2 KOs) in a six-rounder.
In other undercard action:
Long Island-born welterweight prospect Jahi Tucker (8-0, 5 KOs) steps up in class against New Mexico’s Jose Luis Sanchez (11-2-1, 4 KOs) in a six-rounder. Sanchez went the distance against top junior middleweight prospect Xander Zayas last September.
A pair of Puerto Rican contenders, junior lightweight Henry “Moncho” Lebron (16-0, 10 KOs) and featherweight Orlando Gonzalez (18-1, 11 KOs), will see action in separate eight-rounders.
Floyd “Cashflow” Diaz (6-0, 2 KOs), from The Bronx, N.Y., fights in a six-rounder at junior featherweight, while popular Puerto Rican prospect Armani Almestica (6-0, 6 KOs) goes for knockout number seven in a six-rounder at lightweight.
Popular New York City welterweight Pablo Valdez (6-0, 5 KOs) makes his 2022 debut in a six-rounder.
Conceição (Concepcion) is not an easy fighter, I dare to say that he would present a better fight to Shakur than Valdez did
I agree.. afterall, he did beat up Valdez pretty good so im sure that will carry over to the stevenson fight. Idk, call me crazy but i thought Conceiao convincingly beat Valdez.
I expect a pretty awkward fight and one not very fun to watch but the more I think about it, I think Stevenson is better at just about everything and will win 10-2ish, if not bigger.
At 130, Stevenson is complicated. It will take high energy and high volume (with pop) to discourage and to defeat Stevenson at 130.
I am looking forward to watching this fight.
This will be hell. Conceicao will run and throw one punch at a time. I predict I will fall asleep by round 6. Not a knock on the fighters just the styles make this matchup suck.
Stevenson Is a -1800 favorite so why is this happening?
The Brazilian would have been Stevenson`s opponent in a fair world, as he was blatantly robbed against Valdez.
