Joyce vs. Parker is finally official

Unbeaten heavyweight Joe Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs) will take on former world champion Joseph Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) on September 24 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. This heavyweight collision between #1 and #2 in the WBO rankings, as well as being rated at #2 and #3 by the WBC, will represent a shootout to determine who will be made mandatory challenger for the winner of the forthcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Joe Joyce: “This fight has been a long time in the making. Parker realized he had nowhere else to go and eventually had to take this fight. #1 Vs #2. The winner goes on to fight for the world title. It’s going to be a cracking fight and you will see why he tried so hard to avoid me!”

Joseph Parker: “On Saturday, September 24th, the fans in Manchester will see the very best of me. Joe Joyce will see exactly why I will become the heavyweight champion of the world again with BOXXER…I have waited patiently to get this fight on and let me tell you now, the Juggernaut’s journey ends right here. He has nowhere to run.”

The bout will air exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office in the UK. The US outlet is TBA. The event is promoted by Frank Warren for Queensberry Promotions in association with BOXXER.

    • LOL, great comment… Parker will hit and hold once they engage nearly the whole fight. Parker’s offense needs some work.

    • It will be a slow moving bout for sure. Joyce has power and size, he is slow and telegraph his punches. Parker has more mobility and has shown, with Joshua at least, that he can survive with the big boys. His punching power, however, does not raise too much concern.

  • Pay per View on BT… well that’s me looking for a stream or watching it the next day on YouTube

  • Parker will run, grab, move throwing some punches along the way, but there will be a moment where he will run out of room with a wall on his back and a steam roller machine approaching, it could happen between 10 or 11 round

  • Styles make fights and Joyce style will allow Parker to win fairly easily. Expect a wacky scorecard though. Parker by a not so close split decision.

Not only does Joyce telegraph his punches, he’s slowand has awful defense. Parker is a very difficult fight and I think Joyce has already reached his ceiling.

  • This is a fight between two oversized pandas, who have perfected the art of throwing punches with good intentions. Sure to be a snoozer, a fight I have no interest in seeing.

  • It feels like Parker has and always will be just a good prospect. He is only 30 but boxes like a boxer that has lost his fire. When he came onto the pro scene he was quick handed with good skills and looked exciting.

  • Should be Parker pretty easy. Dubuios was beating Joe easy until the weird eye thing. Joe hits hard but is clunky and blocky. He flips better than he parries. Juggernaut or jugger yes is the question. Parker has everything if truly motivated. He looks bored.
