Can Chocolatito get back to the top?

It wasn’t long ago that Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez was considered by many to be the pound-for-pound best fighter in boxing. On Saturday, after a couple of hard years, Gonzalez (48-2, 40 KOs) seeks to get back to the top when he takes on Khalid Yafai (26-0, 15 KOs) for the World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight world title at the Ford Center at The Star, in Frisco, Texas. This will be the sixth defense for Yafai, who is a slight -135 favorite to retain his black and gold WBA belt.

  • Chocolatito is one of the greatest flyweight ever.. He won 4 titles in four weight categories from strawweight to super flyweight and was beaten by Sor Rungvisai in the second fight while having being robbed from his titles in the first fight. Sor Rungvisai won while Chocolatito was no more on his prime and because he was way bigger than him..

  • No, he is too small and weak at 115. Carlos Cuadras exposed his flaws and weakness at that weight, Rungvisai finished the job. Also, he is an old small fighter.

  • Anything is possible in this world. Chocolatito is a decent fighter no doubt. This fight will be worth tuning in to see.

  • How jaded have I become? At the end of the article they refer to the black and gold WBA belt and all I could think of was, GEEZ WHAT WILL THEY COME UP WITH NEXT?!!!

Note: it only took a couple seconds for me to realize they were describing the belts actual colors instead of another silly sub-title.

Good luck to Chocolatito! He’s a great fighter, but I fear his time has passed.
