  • Demetrius Andrade is so good that even with a World title he is avoided by top fighters because it’s still too big a risk for them to take. I remember GGG and Canelo both stated publicly their priority was to become undisputed at 160lbs. That talk all stopped when Andrade got to the top.
Now he has to fight Quigley and the fans will say the same bs to excuse their favorite fighters: Who has he fought? This is Rigondeaux all over again to be matched with a bigger and younger fighter when he gets too old and past his prime years.

    • Yep. He seems destined to fight guys like Quigley and random mandatories for the rest of his prime and someone will beat him when he’s passed it. He’ll be 34 in February and he’s running out of time. And if he doesn’t get that big fight, his resume’ will look really bad as there were big fights to be had in his era, but somehow he couldn’t get into a single one of them.

    • This guy a joke not on the same level always looking for the big money fight but his resume is a bunch of taxi cab drivers facts

    • Haha whatever bro. This bloke is boring as shit. Got dropped by Vanes Martyerosian and you reckon GGG is avoiding him hahahahaha WTAF

  • He should fight Lara next, both boring fighters but Lara has a belt he needs so makes sense.

  • lol this dude always talking yet wont even fight his mandatory Munguia what about Charlo or even old ass GGG ??? aint nobody ducking this duck hahahaha

    • Munguia declined his mandatory ranking that’s why Quigley volunteered to step up,Charlo and GGG want no part vs Andrade,he’s a middleweight world champion and being avoided by the other middleweight champions and mandatory contenders crazy so check your facts

    • Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I recalled he just fought Sugar Shane Mosley Jr. and looked good. This should be one of the silent Great match ups we use to see in the old days. It will definitely be tough on both fighters. They both have great boxing skills with a lil’ pop every now and then that sneaks out to hurt you. This will definitely be a nice fight to watch. Looking forward to it.

  • Legend has it that Willie Pep once won a round without throwing a punch, however, he is lauded and admired for it and known as one of the greatest fighters who ever lived. Andrade is too good for his own good and makes it look easy most of the time. A 6’1 slick athletic southpaw is not high on the list of the Canelo’s of the world.

    • First- that storys exaggerated. Pepp won the round but he threw a fee punches. Not many but enough to win the round.
Second- Pepp fought about 10 times a year or more against guys like Sandy Saddler and Chalky Wright.

Fighting once every 9 or 10 months against the Jason Quigleys of the world aint gonna cut it.

      • The Willie Pep days are long gone, fight fans have changed. They are spoiled by great fights in MMA and will not stand by after paying money to watch 3 punches per round.

    • Hello DMV, I concur with Phil, we can’t compare Andrade to Willy Pepp. The man was definitely a Legend and has earned the right to stand amongst the Legends of the pugilist. Willy Pepp had over 56 fights inside his first 3 years….and was undefeated. If you can DMV watch In this Corner, it has an awesome story of his History and Life in the Boxing world. Amazing Fighter Willy the Wisp’ Pepp. Als, I can’t speak as highly about Andrade as would of Willy Pepp. No comparison. Let’s look for another comparison.

      • Let me clarify Phil and Poirot. Biased people on this thread often contend how boring Demetrius Andrade is, however, those of us that are fair and impartial see there is more to his style of fighting and he’s actually very good and avoided. The excuse as Canelo stated himself, is that he is boring and looking for a payday, however, Canelo will fight caucasian fighters like weight trained and on 4 weeks notice Andre Ward leftovers-Kovalev, Payday-Smith, Pulled out of the Andrade fight-Saunders, and pitty pat-Plant, and let’s not forget the formidable human punching bag-Yildirim. Plant had a conversation in the ring with the guy talking about how good Canelo was…wtf. Andrade has been calling Canelo out since they were Junior Middleweights, and Charlo for that matter, give the guy his shot. We wanna see someone fight Canelo that isn’t going to take a bag, but try to whup is ass. Wasn’t comparing the careers of Pep and Andrade, just the style of fighting, and Pep was known as a defensive fighter, but is praised for it, is all I was trying to say.

        • DMV, agree 100% on everything you said about Canelo. Andrade may be avoided and he may be a great fighter but he has to create the demand. Its bad enough that he’s stuck fighting 2nd tier guys its worse that he fights about once a year. Pure boxing is beautiful so I dont fault no one for being ‘boring’ but Andrade isnt doing himself any favors with his schedule.

  • It’s sad, but, I think Andrade is going to end up like Zahir Raheem. A great boxer who will never get a chance because of his style. He might opportunities once he’s too old to beat the best. He lacks marketability.

  • Andrade hasn’t fought no one to become champion. There are to many championship Cracker Jack belts. Everyone are champions in boxing.
