Welterweight Michael Williams Jr. (20-1, 13 KOs) plans to shock the world in his ten round PPV showdown with former 4-division world champion Adrien Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) on February 25 at The Gateway Center @ College Park, GA. Williams Jr. is trained by his father Michael Williams Sr. and Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr.

“I’m not here to just be a body in the ring,” said Williams Jr. “I’m coming to get rid of Broner and become a household name with an impressive victory. I have nothing to lose, and I’m going shock the world. I know the odds are against me, but I’m not afraid. Along with my father, who is an excellent coach, I have one of the best trainers in the world guiding my corner in Roy Jones Jr. I’ve been training for this moment my entire life. I’m ready for the challenge. I’ll give it my all and leave everything in the ring.”

  • Let’s hope Roy can contribute more to the prep of Williams Jr than just ‘fight like me’.

  • If Broner isn’t juiced up, which he will be, then he should be fairly easy to beat. He throws about 7 punches a round and isn’t very powerful. But since he’s been off for so long and got almost as fat as his slob dad, it’s safe to assume he’s had some assistance to shed the weight while gaining conditioning. This is boxing after all, most corrupt sport on earth.

  • I don’t know about Williams Jr. John Bauza physically manhandled him like he was a little boy. It was so weird to watch. At the same time, I don’t know how much Broner has in the tank and what is his frame of mind. I really don’t know what to expect.

  • I may or may not have heard of Williams Jr, but I really have no idea who he is or what he’s done, so I looked him up before posting. He’s 23, has a decent amateur background, but has beaten absolutely nobody. His lone loss was to a guy with 15-0 record and all his wins were against guys with losing records. One guy was 3-46, no kidding. Maybe this will be his moment to shine, but generally speaking, one doesn’t go from beating those types of fighters to beating a decorated multidivision former world champion, albeit a faded and weird one.

  • For me this fight is mainly about Williams’ chin. If he can take those little bursts that Broner tends to fight in, he has a decent chance at winning. He’s 23 years old, he’s been 8 rounds a few times, 10 at Broner’s non-existent pace should be no problem for him, so I’m not concerned about him gassing. But in his one loss, he got knocked down by John Bauza 4-5 times and he flat out took a knee on two of them. Say what you want about Bauza, but he’s no puncher and having THAT much of a problem with his physical strength is worrying. If he can take Broner’s shots, however, he’s young enough to be active enough beating on Broner’s gloves and just outhustling him, like everyone else, for a decision imo.

  • The only SHOCKING here is if Broner wins by controversial decision. Beating Broner is not shocking anymore since he was defeated before already.

    • Yeah, I don’t know if i’d call beating Broner a shocker either. You have a kid who’s 23 years old, 20-1, and trained by Roy Jones. Sounds pretty good right? Then you check out his pathetic level of opposition then you have to wonder. There’s a reason he continues to fight those types of guys. I’m all for the changing of the guard and the young replacing the old, but I don’t think it’s happening here. Kid Williams appears to be nothing more than a glorified midwest club fighter.

  • BLacK Prime has pretty much schemed it’s way to at least 1 victory for it’s over valued property.

  • The best reason to attend this event is if you were trying to procure a autograph from RJJ. Maybe there is a better fight on the undercard than the headliner.. At least this team has got matching outfits. Maybe AB will do something stupid/entertaining. no thanks

  • He said “shock the world”…Bronner is no more than a gatekeeper these days.

  • I remember this fighter was an up and coming killer. Good to see he gets his shot at the big time. Broner is not the only guy here with a story.
    Good luck for both guys.
