White: Conor-Floyd rematch reports are BS

By TMZ.com

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are reportedly “very close” to inking a deal to once again meet in the boxing ring, and Dana White has a thought — “BULLS**T!” TMZ Sports talked to the UFC President on Tuesday and asked about a report out of the UK stating the two megastars were all but set to rematch in the near future.

“It’s total bullshit!” White told us, adding, “That story came from a paper called The Daily Mirror which is a tabloid in Europe. It’s total bulls**t!”

(Note: The Sun first reported the story. Daily Mail and The Mirror — two separate outlets — published stories referencing the initial Sun report.)

And, Dana’s more than a spectator … he’s an interested party. Conor is under contract with the UFC … meaning if he wants to box Floyd, the UFC honcho must be involved. Clearly, White — who has a good relationship with Mayweather — says it ain’t happening … at least not now.

Of course, Conor and Floyd boxed in August 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas … in what was one of the most promoted and talked about fights in the history of combat sports.

Mayweather, 49-0 in the ring at the time, won by TKO in the 10th round. It was McGregor’s first time in a professional boxing match.

Since Floyd retired after winning his 50th pro fight … but he’s still taken exhibition bouts against guys like Logan Paul.

As for Conor, he broke his leg last summer fighting Dustin Poirier, and while he’s getting close to being fully recovered, he isn’t there yet.

  • Sucker born everyday. And then Floyd wants respect like Ali, like Marciano? No man, you a clown.

    • A “clown” for what making money? How does Floyd get heat for this when it came out of a European tabloid as Dana White clearly stated.

If you could fight a 5th grader for $300,000,000 would you do it or be a “clown” and continue to work your 9-5. I would put the 5th grader to sleep. If people are willing to pay blame the public not the athlete.

      • Agreed HawnJay. Floyd has a way of selling his fights to boxing fans that want to see him lose, and then he never does. Mayweather laughs all the way to the bank.
I am a biased white man who happens to think that Floyd is the greatest fighter of his generation and one of the all time greats. That rankles so many people.

  • If there’s truth that Floyd thinks this would make him 200mil he’s not too bright. McGregor is on the decline in MMA. He already suffered a clear beat down against Floyd and No one wants to see this fight again unless it’s in the octagon. But even that wouldn’t do 200mil.

    • There are enough people like you that hate Floyd and believe Conor has a puncher’s chance to believe. Did you not see the first fight. Floyd is obviously “brighter” than you because he made about $200 mill fighting an MMA fighter. The public isn’t “too bright” because they supported if the first time thinking Conor could do what Oscar, Manny, Marques, Canelo, Cotto failed to do.

  • Would rather see Kambosos fight Floyd (at 145 lbs) in Australia, than watch Floyd vs McGregor 2 or Haney vs Kambosos 2.(Maybe if McGregor vs Floyd 2 were in the UK or Ireland, it’s big.)

    • Kambosos is not worthy to lick Floyd’s bootstraps let alone get a fight with him at “145 in Australia.” You know darn well Floyd calls the shots because he’s earned and it would be in Vegas.

  • Haha, a bunch of ya’ll had hope in Connor thinking he might can solve the May Vinci Code and hand Mayweather his 1st loss. All from footage of Connor beating up on the twink boy Malignaggi They sold you on it and you brought in.
Was even hoping Paul being the bigger guy could catch Floyd and beat him.
Mayweather was always smart in that way. He knew to fight a Hispanic fighter on Cinco de Mayo so they would spend their money on that same hope.

    • Its funny how they mock Floyd and yet the public is the one who supports such fights. Obviously, his haters should blame the public. I wish they’d be honest and say they hate that the black guy is brighter than all of them put together. He made $200 mill fighting an MMA fighter.

People hate Floyd for the same things they love Conor for…..gee I wonder why? If Floyd can get another stack to fight Conor it would be stupid not to. His haters will watch anyways hoping that Conor does what Cotto, Marquez, Oscar, Judah, Pacquiao, Canelo etc failed to do. Those folks are the suckers.

      • Does the general public love Connor McGregor for beatong women? Just checking…..

        • As much as they do mayweather for the same offense. What’s the point?

  • I seriously hope this doesnt happen. McGregor’s boxing skills straight out suck. Never laughed so hard when i was watching their last fight. Seriously though, dude reminded me of a new fighter in the Ammys when he was hammer fisting FML on the top of his head. Too funny.
