    • Long history of protected Russian interim champions , not for free , naturally

  • How is that war any Russian boxer’s fault? Might as well round them up and lock them up. How different is it?

    • It also isn’t the fault of the citizens of Russia either, but they all have to take some responsibility for the actions of their government.

      • Using that same illogic, American citizens should “take some responsibility” for their government’s involvement in committing atrocities in Yemen. Hey WBC, why not punish U.S. boxers by refusing to sanction title fights for Americans over Yemeni war crimes?

        • Yes, we as American citizens are partially responsible the actions in many unwarranted US military actions.

  • It’s a strong message and the boxing community needed to follow all the other sports who did the. We know Russian fighters aren’t responsible for the war who is going on but they needed to do it..
What is the WBA waiting for ?!

    • Sorry WBA were actually the first ones to take the sanctions against Russia.

  • This is bogus. This is boxing, not politics. If Russian & Belarusian boxers are being held accountable then why aren’t Ukrainian and Polish boxers being held accountable for Ukrainian and Polish officials yanking African students/ families off trains or denying them assess out of the country and leaving them to die? It’s a double standard and making folks a scapegoat simply because of where they were born.

    • Great post, HawnJay. And why us the MSM making a hero & saint out of the corrupt Ukrainian president? The guy is literally trying to use his own people as human shields by giving them rifles & telling them to snipe at Russian soldiers from residential areas. Ukraine has no chance against Russia, and they need to surrender ASAP before the bodies really start piling up.

  • Hey WBC, here’s an idea for you. Why not create a commemorative belt to capitalize on the current situation. Call it the WBC Peace in Eastern Europe belt and charge a hefty sanctioning fee for it, but with a caveat: only non-Russian boxers are allowed to fight for it.

    • Be careful about giving them ideas like this-you might see this belt in the next few days.

  • Every boxing fan agrees that all 4 major sanctioning bodies are corrupt. So it shouldn’t be shocking that Mauricio Sulaimon, Francisco Valcarcel and Daryl Peoples are also Xenophobic.

  • Their statements hold no water. In no time, all three organizations will create a new championship called the Non-Russian Supportive Emerald” championship belt. The loophole will be that the fighters change their home location. All done with a straight face to show how serious they are about the current situation.

  • Vladimir Putin vs Volodymyr Zelensky for the lineal, undisputed Eastern / Central European Championship of the World. No judges. No set # of rounds…..

    • Putin would DESTROY Zelensky in a fight. Putin is a former KGB agent that holds a black belt. Zelensky is a former comedic actor.

  • Stop the War in Ukraine peace ✌️ in the world . Hope all other countries join us for peace ️️️.

  • COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE EBU AND THE CURRENT CONFLICTS OF RUSSIA VS UKRAINE
The European Boxing Union (EBU), joining the urgent plea of the sports world to cease fire and end the war in Ukraine, will – from today on – not certify any championship contests involving boxers from Russia and Belarus until further notice.
We are united with the boxing world asking for peace and we reject any form of war.

  • Where were these crooked outfits when the USA was bombing one country after another back to the stone age in all their “shock and awes”?
