WBC #1 Zepeda returns Saturday

WBC #1 super Lightweight José “Chon” Zepeda returns to the ring on Saturday night at the Gimnasio Municipal “Josué Neri Santos” in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Zepeda (35-3, 27 KOs) will face Francisco “Verdugo” Pérez (18-12-1, 13 KOs) in a ten-rounder. Zepeda, of course, is now a major fan favorite after his 2020 fight of the year against Ivan Baranchyk. He most recently flattened Josué “Prodigy” Vargas in less than two minutes.

The co-feature is a good super lightweight clash between Carlos “Tiburón” Sánchez (22-0, 18 KOs) and Pedro “Roca” Campa (33-1-1, 22 KOs).

The card will be broadcast live by Azteca 7, so fire up your VPN and catch this telecast.

  • Instead of sitting around waiting on his title shot, he takes a stay busy kind of a fight. I like this. Hasn’t been out in five months and had less than a round there, take this fight and get ready for probably a rematch against Ramirez for the belt once Taylor vacates.

    • Excellent point! As I was reading the post I had the very same sentiment. I bet he’s not making the kind of money that a DAZN, ESPN or ShowTime would pay, but nevertheless it’s all about keeping that knife sharpened!!

  • I’m not sure what to think about that, it’s kind of stupid and dangerous because the guy can’t help him with his ratings, can harm him because the guy can punch although being a journeyman and I’m sure that it sucks money wise.. ?!

    • I look these as paid sparring. Honestly, if he loses, then he probably wasn’t good enough anyway. This way, he keeps his name out there and rather than calling guys out on Twitter, he can do it after having his arm raised.
