WBA announces Taylor-Puello Purse Bid

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee has scheduled the purse bid for the mandatory bout between super lightweight super champion Josh Taylor and his mandatory challenger Alberto Puello. The bidding will take place next Friday, April 22 online via the Zoom platform. On Monday, a communication was sent to the parties with all the conditions of the bidding, which will have a minimum amount of US $200,000. The split will be 55% for the champion Taylor and 45% for the challenger.

  • Curious as hell if Taylor actually goes through with this fight. I’m thinking maybe he tries to see if he can get a big fight at 147 and if not MAYBE Puello. Puello is a decent fighter, probably not worth the risk to stay at 140 unless he’s pretty sure he’ll have a big fight at the weight coming up next…. and not yet another mandatory. Maybe Teo or Kambosos – Haney winner.
