Undefeated IBF super middleweight world champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (20-0, 12 KOs) defends against former champion Caleb “Golden” Truax (31-4-2, 19 KOs) on FOX Saturday night. The fight will take place without fans in attendance at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
“I’m going to win because I’m the most experienced and the best fighter that Plant has ever faced,” said Truax. “I believe my experience, my pressure, my conditioning and just my determination will be the factor in getting the win and I expect to do so on January 30.
“In a perfect world, it’s a slugfest, a crowd-pleasing fight and I get the win in a 12-round decision. Actually, in a perfect world I go out there and knock him out with the first punch. But we all know that’s not going to happen. He’s a good fighter so I expect to go 12 rounds and just get the job done.”
This is a long long shot, but you gotta respect Truax. This guy is a huge overachiever.
Heres the thing, Plant switches off after round 7 and becomes a little lazy. This is were Truax can shine as he is seasoned to go 12 hard rounds and can steal the last few rounds to get the nod.
I don’t think it will happen but it just might.

Plant is more hyped up than Chavez Jr fighting nobodies but billed as the next superstar. He loses against the first top 25 guy he fights but of course won’t fight any of them and will wait until his record on paper looks great at 30+ and 0 and then cash in and get destroyed by Canelo and never hear from him again.
No, honestly I don’t expect that.
Plant is not a bad boxer he has a big mouth and some decent skills so he can sell fights. Other than that he appears to be an overhyped fighter having never fought anyone of note with the exception of Jose Uzcategui who is a one trick pony.
The moment Plant steps in with a Benavidez or Canelo he gets bludgeoned. His win over Uzcategui was impressive but Uzcategui is a very one dimensional fighter with a one track mind who was going to get exposed by someone who wasn’t afraid of his power like Andre Dirrell was and he was exposed yet again by a journeyman his last time out so Plants win over him was never as impressive as originally thought.
Caleb Plant might have pretty manicured nails which is why he calls himself “sweethands” which by the way is the most ridiculous nickname I have ever heard for a boxer. He will be yesterday’s news I’d even pick newcomer David Morrell the outstanding Cuban boxer who holds a bogus WBA title after only 4 fights as a pro but he is for real and I’d take him over Plant right now to pick up Plants bogus belt as well.
Caleb is better than you think. At this point in time he would outbox Morrell. In two years this result may be different. Benavidez would be a tough fight. Benavidez would apply pressure the entire time. Plant would have to stun, hurt Benavidez to have him back off every now and then. Plant, in the mean time, would be peppering him with jabs and right crosses. I have never been a Canelo fan but I give credit that he has a great chin, terrific body attack, and has improved as a fighter. He does pick and choose fighters when they get older (Kovalev, GGG) or notices weakness in recent fight (Callum Smith vs Ryder). Benavidez vs. Canelo would be a great fight.
Could Truax have an altruistic Gentleman Glen Johnson vs Roy Jones Jr moment????
Probably not.
But he’s pulled off at least one upset before….

Actually that is a fair assessment.
No chance of a win for Truax. It will be plant by KO or lopsided decision.
plant has good hands but he is beatable truax got expierience he should use it in the early rounds and move plant into the ropes and pound on his shoulders plant will slow dowm
