Spence-Crawford PPV undercard set

Three PPV undercard fights have been named for the big Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. vs. Terence “Bud” Crawford showdown on July 29 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Lightweight contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) faces unbeaten Giovanni Cabrera (21-0, 7 KOs) in a 12-round WBC and WBA title eliminator in the co-main event, plus rising star Jesus “Mono” Ramos (20-0, 16 KOs) takes on Sergio Garcia (34-2, 14 KOs) in a 12-round WBC super welterweight title eliminator. Kicking off the pay-per-view, unbeaten rising heavyweight Gurgen Hovhannisyan (4-0, 4 KOs) will duel the power-punching Viktor Faust (11-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round matchup.

“This pay-per-view lineup on July 29 is worthy of the mega-fight main event and will give fans high-stakes action leading up to the seismic showdown between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Isaac Cruz and Jesus Ramos Jr. are two rising stars who deliver fireworks every time they get in the ring, and they’ll be pushed to be at their best in tough matchups on Showtime PPV. Adding in an explosive heavyweight opener, and fans will want to make sure they get into their seats early at T-Mobile Arena.”

  • It’s hard to see a full boxing card without Mexicans involved we put the action

    • The same could be said about Americans, English and Europeans we all just happen to produce the majority of fighters. Pointing out the obvious isn’t really saying much.

  • This is one of those situations where I don’t even care who’s on the undercard. If that main event does actually come off, you could put absolutely ANYONE under it, I could not care less.

    • Will the main event live up to the hype or will both combatants play it safe and get a UD win? The undercard is definitely going to be awesome. You have Pitbull Cruz, who always comes to fight against a hungry undefeated slick southpaw who relies on his superior boxing skills. This will definitely be a great stylistic Match up. Then you have Jesus Ramos who is a strong power puncher who comes forward with decent defense. If the main event doesn’t live up to the hype I won’t be disappointed as we will get a awesome undercard but it the main event lives up to the hype and the hype get fireworks then dang what a night of boxing .

    • Spot on Lucie!! In fact, just show me the damn main event and I’ll pay the full price!

  • Finally a good undercard for once. Crawford gonna smash the puny overrated Spence…

  • Spence and Crawford are older than Leonard and Hagler when they fought. Plus, Spence outgrew 147 years ago and was thrown out of a car. And neither was ever as big a draw as Leonard and Hagler. After Hagler fought Duran and Hearns, he was a big deal. Even Hearns vs Leonard 2 in 1989 was a bigger fight than this. If Crawford wins, he should challenge Canelo to make 159 lbs and he’d fight him in late 2023. Or even 36 year old Crawford vs 41 year old Golovkin would be a mega fight. Golovkin still makes 160, Canelo wants to be at 168 or higher. Everything 160 and higher is where boxing is at, 160 to heavyweight shkd be the superstar pay per view fights. 147 is just a big deal because of Floyd being there from 2006 to 2015.

    • True Tom.. it’s a gimmick at this point.. Spence with about 5 fights in 5.5 years and Crawford old AF.. way past the “Best By” date….

    • Lol floyd Chickenweather , the most coward and bored fighter ever , he never gave a fight of the year so I don’t even bring him to the table

    • We are talking about boxers, not girls even Amanda Nunes has more balls than Floyd chickenweather

  • I think I know which way Hovhannisyan-Faust is going, but an interesting fight nonetheless. Not too shabby a card actually…

  • This is a worthy card. Probably be the only fight I pay for this year if I can’t find a place to pirate it w/o lag.

  • Disappointed to continue to see all these big fights on PPV. Financial greed is the key here and the public continues to be ripped off.

    • Financial Greed?! LOL.. why does pro boxing exist? Stupid ass comment.. it’s always been a sport of greed and exploitation.. ABC WIDE World of Sports showing big fights for free in the 70s and 80s with major champions making $175K and less for title defenses. That’s how you got so much free boxing programming.

        • The dollar was worth more back then but fighting 15 rounders and going life and death with murderous fighters like Yaqui Lopez, Juan Laporte, Eusubio Pedroza, Little Red Lopez, etc… was worth a lot more. PPV just had not been invented yet. Tired of every clown complaining that fights aren’t free like in the past. Just accept that those days are gone forever.

  • I’m considering this a good undercard, but not great. Sadly, it’s one of the best in a really long time.

As for the main event, I can’t even remember the last time either of them has fought. It’s hard to imagine it being a great fight at this point. They definitely waited too long!!! I’m leaning toward Crawford by Majority Decision and the rematch might end up being a better fight if they run it back immediately.

  • 28-32 is prime for a fighter. Crawford is past his expiration date. It was evident in his last fight, he was getting touched more than usual. Spence with his car accident, retina and the war with Ugas showed he has slowed also. This fight is happening way too late unfortunately.

    • If I took Tank, Shakur and Haney, I make them all 34 years of age. I guarantee, you will not see the same movement, reaction timing, HUNGER, speed and volume of punches thrown. Also the level of the training they can achieve will slow due to recovery at that age.
      This fight is way late.
