Oscar Valdez/Carl Frampton Roundtable

By Miguel Maravilla

Former featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez and former two-weight world champion Carl “The Jackal Frampton held an open forum roundtable conference in Los Angeles for their upcoming fights. Valdez and Frampton will be featured in separate bouts Saturday November 30 live on ESPN+ at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

“I’m excited for this fight and happy to be back. Andres Gutierrez is a dangerous fighter. I’ve had a good camp and I’m grateful to be working with Eddy (Reynoso). Going up to 130 was the best decision for me,” said Valdez, who will be moving up to super featherweight as he takes on fellow Mexican and former world title challenger Andres Gutierrez.

“First thing is first and that’s Andres Gutierrez. Then I can talk about other possible fights.”

Hall of Fame Promoter Bob Arum was also on hand as he talked about the upcoming card.

“This is a good card. Oscar Valdez and Carl Frampton are two of the best in their weight category. I assure you that these will be very competitive fights,” Bob Arum told Fightnews.com®.

Frampton will take on Tyler McCreary in the co-feature bout.

“This is a good fight. So far I’ve had a disastrous year and I’m looking to make it better,” stated Frampton.

“McCreary is a decent opponent and is much taller than me. He has a good jab that will be hard and difficult to get past it. Camp was good. I’ve worked hard and the hand is back to normal. Sparring went very well. I’m ready. After this fight if I win. There’s potentially a big fight. I would like a fight vs. any of the champions!”
