Unbeaten lightweight contender Miguel “El Explosivo” Madueño (27-0, 25 KOs) will face former world champion Jezzrel Corrales (25-4, 10 KOs) in a WBA lightweight title eliminator. The 12-round bout will take place at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama on Saturday’s “KO to Drugs” event hosted by the WBA. A win would put the 23-year-old Madueño in line to be a mandatory challenger for the WBA lightweight world champion, which is currently held by George Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KOs).

What a joke. Madueño shouldn’t be nor even in the rankings and Corrales the same. Who would want to see any of them against Kambosos? I guess only Gilberto Mendoza
the same thing was said about Tank Davis vs UNKNOWN Pitbull Cruz and look what happened… rankings are rankings
UNKNOWN maybe just by you, but Isaac Cruz is a well known fighter with solid wins against good competition previous his fight against Gervonta Davis (Francisco Vargas and Diego Magdaleno). That he was a massive underdog and his performance against Davis enhanced his credits is another matter
Maybe Madueno is the goods and can fight, but I agree there’s nothing on his record which should have him in an eliminator. Corrales is the same, but the WBA LOVES Panamanian fighters so I’m not surprised about him. That’s a title eliminator between the 11th and 8th ranked fighters. NO WAY. Give me #2 vs #6, Michel Rivera vs William Zepeda.
Madueño is a very young fighter with decent power , but against limited opposition. He is absolutely green with countless flaws and clumsy footwork. Now, what Corrales has done since he was flattened by Alberto Machado?.
I don’t mind, if is possible, Pitbull Cruz vs. Camaron Zepeda, because either one can put a fight against Kambosos, and none of the two the WBA is intending.
Cruz – Zepeda would be a helluva fight!
