Kingry: First KO JoJo Diaz, then take on Tank

By TMZ.com

Ryan Garcia is back from his hiatus with a plan … telling TMZ Sports he now wants to KO JoJo Diaz Jr. next — and then set up a mega-fight with Gervonta Davis.

The 23-year-old undefeated boxing phenom broke it all down for us at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant pre-fight event in L.A. this week … saying he’s in a way better place after taking some time away from the ring to focus on his mental health.

And, now, he tells us he’s ready to fight Diaz Jr. in his first tilt back … with a contract with the 32-1 former champ “95 percent” done.

“He’s going to get knocked out,” Garcia said of Diaz Jr. “He’s going to get caught with a shot sooner or later, and he doesn’t have really that good of defense.”

After that, Garcia — who’s 21-0 as a pro — says he wants Tank … telling us, “I’ve been chasing that fight for so long.”

“He’s always going to be there. I’m hunting him down.”

As for finally hammering out a deal for that huge fight with Davis … Garcia seems to think it should be pretty easy if he makes quick work of Diaz Jr. like he expects.

“I’ll make you rich,” Garcia said in a message to Davis. “And, then I’ll continue my great career.”

  • Kingry has exceptional offense in his arsenal using fast hands and counters. However, his defense needs some work. Kingry uses limited head movement at times when he loses track of his defense focusing too much on offense. He struggles to synchronize both skills in my opinion. All this being said, yes, I feel he can beat Diaz since Diaz’s style is tailor-made for his Kingry’s style. On the flip side, Tank’s aggressive power with counters would make Kingry rethink his plan very quickly training harder on synchronizing both defense and offense more effectively if he wants to win. Tank would be a bigger hill to climb for a victory.

    • Scoobs!! Great analysis! Agreed 100% maybe this is why he chose Diaz. Solid fighter in Diaz with quick hands and good combos. Basically a not so strong Tank. Thus fifht shkd guage where he is at the moment

  • Kingry is in a tough mental place because he won the right to challenge for the coveted WBC title that Haney holds. The fact that he doesn’t have the confidence to challenge for it has him conflicted as a fighter. Tank went to 140lbs so it likely just talk for something thats not gonna happen. JoJo doesn’t want the Haney shot either. Both fighters agree its safer to fight each other to protect themselves from Haney. Lets see if Loma takes the Haney fight now that he lost his title and P4P recognition to Teo and dont have much else to lose.

    • That’s a good point about Haney. He’s in a really good division but none of those guys really seem to have a reason to fight him. Diaz and Garcia probably make more money fighting each other in LA than going after Haney and I’m assuming Lomachenko fights Commey and then goes after Lopez-Kamboso. Maybe if Commey beats Loma, he’d fight Haney. Otherwise, I’d expect Haney to spend the next year just fighting guys like Tagoe. And its no fault of his own, he’s an excellent fighter and he has youth on his side, but it might be a while before he gets a big fight.

  • They left out the last line of the Tmz story. “Good to have ya back, King.”
Typical lapdog tmz fan boy garbage.

  • I think Kingry is a big liability issue with his mental help issues. So if he really wants Tank, Floyd better deliver asap!

  • So much irony. No amount of mental health will prepare Ryan for Tank because he doesn’t desire the big fights. He called out Manny which was full of air and he dodged Lineres and Haney. As for Diaz, a fight being “95% done”. We all know in Ryan’s case it can be 100% done and he’ll use the mental health card (I don’t believe him) as a way to get out of a fight. He’s a social medial fighter who does just enough to get by. Tank holds titles in 2 division and is fliriting with the idea of 147 against Keith Thurman, Lopez defeated Loma, Loma is always dangerous, Haney fought Lineres (Ryan dodged both). He’s the only one who is doing absolutely nothing to stand out from the pack. He criticized Diaz’s defense hahaha. He forgets when he got rocked his had absolutely no defense and only survived because his opponent didn’t know how to finish him off. He’s all hype but someone how he has male fans that refuse to see him for what he is. SCARED!

  • From a mental health perspective I wish him well. In the ring, I hope he gets sparked because he talks too much. He sees or knows something about Tank that makes him think he can beat him… and tank was ready to rumble at one point.. we’ll see. Tanks counter punching and power I think is too much for this kid

    • JoJo is much better than Ryan. Who has Ryan beat? JoJo has fought a ton of tough guys with every style. He is better in nearly every area over Ryan. Ryan has power and speed, with no skills or fundamentals.

  • So happy the king flogger is back, guess he has been busy washing canelo’s jock strap.
If tank hits him with the same shot Luke Campbell did, the king will fall and wake up next week

  • garcia is hubris laden – a de la hoya wannabe with parents who sacrificed any intelligenc he was capable of developing for the dollar bill – he will quickly become an extension of the boxing freak show

  • Jojo/ Kingry winner vs Loma/Commey winner.
    Winner takes on Lopez
    2nd place: winner gets Haney

  • lmao why is superhype just overlooking Diaz as if he was a nobody and thinking about Tank? Diaz only loss was against Gary Russell jr who has way faster hand speed and with a suspect chin and the experience Diaz has superhype might want go ahead and skip Diaz and follow in Caleb Plants footsteps and sign to fight for bigger money knowing hes going to get KOd and made into a highlight

  • We must remember ryan has been nothing but talk running hideing dodgeing i wouldnt be surprised if he gets booed in to that jojo diaz fight, and lying ryan had his chance to fight the tank devon haney, fortuna but dodge every one of those fights. Ryan should stick to his tiktok dance career
