Juarez beats Sanchez, move closer to title shot

Super bantamweight contender César “Corazón” Juárez (23-6, 17 KOs) did all he could to stop Jorge “Búfalo” Sanchez (19-4, 9 KOs) on Saturday night, but in the end he had to settle for a ten round unanimous decision victory at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana, BCN, Mexico. The judges’ scorecards favored Juarez 99-91, 100-90 and 98-92, as he continued his drive for another world title shot.

“I was a little frustrated not to knock out the Panamanian,” said Juarez. “I was surprised that he took all my power shots, but the important thing is that we won and we’ll go for the world title eliminator!”
