  • Benavidez has fought no one. If you call that ducking, I have new for you Floyd. He learned a couple of things from you it seems. Remember? So don’t try to play smart with me. You and I know about this game. 😉

  • A lot of people on this site may not like him but for me, Floyd is the greatest boxer I have seen. And listening to him here, his boxing brain is second to none.

    • – I “liked” Floyd in his early career, especially when he won his first title against Genarro Hernandez.
      – When he ranted against Larry Merchant in a live HBO interview, and turned into “money” Mayweather, I just lost interest.
      – I respect his accomplishments as a defensive genius as well as a businessman.
      – Take care.

      • Edit:
        – I just watched the video. One thing that I disagree w/Floyd is that he proclaims himself “the greatest fighter of the century”.
        – Does he define this as the 21st century, meaning from 2000 – 2099, or for the last 100 years, from 1921 to 2021?
        – If the definition is the former, there are still fighters to come that haven’t been born yet.
        – If the definition is the latter, imo, I put Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, etc, ahead of Floyd, based on shear accomplishments and #of fights (not necessarily an undefeated record.

  • Gilberto Ramirez is the right opponent former mexican champion at 168lbs. The Canelo camp knows how to pickem. Anyone posing a genuine challenge is out of the running. How about Usyk dropping down to cruiser catchweight instead of some Afican unknown? Beterbiev/Bivol?

  • I like Floyd.. but he be sounding like he doesn’t like Canelo lol. Even the last part.. it always seem like he finds a way to make a slick comment about him. I think Floyd was the smartest Boxer in the last century. As far as doing what he did his whole career.. and still doing. I do see Canelo as being kind of a fraud myself at times. But you have to respect what they bring to the sport imo

    • Don’t make it one sided. Floyd and Canelo has a professional rivalry. Every now and then Canelo comments about Floyd and makes excuses why he lost and how it would be different if they fought now instead of admitting the best man won. Floyd gave Canelo props post fight and said he would go on to do greater things and he did. Canelo gives Floyd props by saying he changed him. Canelo conducts himself similar to Floyd in his style of evading punches, picking & choosing his opponent (after earning A-side) and being a free agent.

      • It was one sided because I’m commenting on this particular video. I mean, even if Canelo talk about Floyd and makes excuses he lost, so to me it kinda makes sense plus he’s still active. I guess maybe Floyd’s attitude is a reaction to Canelo not giving him props.. from what you said about making excuses why he lost. Floyd won.. a one sided fight. So I’m not sure why there should even be a rivalry from his side plus he’s retired. Canelo is still fighting and improving.. him explaining his one loss and how it would be different today is a little different from if he ever said I unified and Floyd never did. So Floyd’s shots at Canelo might be because of Canelo not giving him respect. That’s probably why it feels different

  • I am going off the tracks here but hang in there with me. Which current/past fighters have/had ALL 20 of the following boxing qualities:

    1) Decent size;
    2) Great chin;
    3) Titles in multiple weight classes and/or several title defenses;
    4) Great mental/physical toughness;
    5) Great hand speed;
    6) Decent TKO/KO victories;
    7) Great combination punches;
    8) Great jab;
    9) Great defense;
    10) Great foot movements;
    11) Great inside fighter;
    12) Great resume of opponents;
    13) Satisfies/Satisfied weigh-ins;
    14) Great mean streak;
    15) Great ring generalship;
    16) Great ring “smarts”;
    17) Great body puncher;
    18) Great stamina;
    19) A boxing style that is copied by numerous fighters; and
    20) A great variety of at least stinging punches.

    Dang, I can only think of FMJ who satisfied ALL 20 of the above boxing qualities. To this day, I am unable to think of another fighter, but several fighters were close. My favorite fighters are James Toney/Larry Holmes/JMM, but I am unable to list them with FMJ.

    Good luck.

    • You forgot he had heart. When he had questionable wins against Castillo and Maidana in the eyes of some, he ran it back.

      Caesar Chavez never ran it back with Pernell Whitaker after he was robbed of a victory in Texas.

  • Just because you say it doesn’t make it so. Agree with you, Gary G. FMJ is definitely an all-time great and the best to do it in the last twenty-five years. But best in the last hundred years and better than Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Henry Armstrong, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Emile Griffith, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Alexis Arguello, Roberto Duran, and Julio Cesar Chavez? A bit of a stretch, IMO. Also don’t like how he makes it more about him and less about the fighters he’s promoting. He definitely has adopted that Don King philosophy in not allowing the fighter to become bigger than the promoter. FMJ is smart in that he knows the importance of continuously promoting his own legacy, even at the expense of those he’s promoting, as it seems there are enough people buying into it. He does make a good point about other large sporting events occurring on Sunday and the need to treat boxing events similarly.

  • Floyd Mayweather is such an insecure/jealous little man who hates on anyone who gets attention besides himself, past or present. It’s probably the #1 reason why a lot of people including myself don’t like him or respect him.

  • Let’s see, a racist (watch video of him talking about the Pac Man), women beater, child terrorizer, narcissist and I’m supposed to listen to him, good fighter, horrible human.

  • keep your money cruz is a sub fighter floyd building up tank thats all

  • Great fighter! Legend for sure! One of the greatest ever! Fought the best in his era and made the most money out of any fighter without getting hurt. Retired at 49-0 after beating Andre Berto. True boxing fans wont count that fiasco circus exhibition show against McGregor as a 50th win, but still, at 49-0. Mayweather is great! Celf centered, but can’t blame him.

  • Floyd did the same SHIT!!! Canelo is chasing Greatness. Making history is what is all about. Who cares about what other people want. We all wanted Floyd to fight all the fighters that where in their prime but he never did. He cherry picked every fighter and now that Canelo is doing the same Shit Mayweather saying something. Canelo will be one of the greatest Mexican fighters ever. Don’t hate appreciate.

  • What he is talking about. He pick who he want to fight he pay for no to fight his mandatory challenger . Now he is doing the same with Davis
