Former world champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada has wrapped up the toughest stage of his training in Hermosillo, where he sparred twelve intense rounds. He looked powerful, precise and very fast. He also was within the limit at the seven-day pre-weigh-in. Estrada (36-3, 25 KOs) will face Felipe Orucuta (36-4, 30 KOs) next Saturday at the Forum in Inglewood in an HBO-televised fight.

“The camp in Jiquipilco, State of Mexico, we did for five weeks and it went very well. I feel very strong and very well conditioned. I know Orocuta will be a very tough, very demanding opponent, so we’re prepared to go to war for 12 rounds,” stated a perspiring Estrada, who arrived yesterday in Hermosillo for a two day stop where he didn’t neglect his preparation.

Trainer Alfredo Caballero says Estrada is in the prime of his career. “He’s a more intelligent, more mature fighter, and more methodical to attack and defend, but I feel that now punches with more power. Against Orucuta we’ll see the best version of ‘Gallo’ Estrada!”

Estrada and his team will fly to Los Angeles today and on Sunday morning he’ll only run. Over the next week, he’ll fulfill promotional commitments and keep exercising.

“We will get the victory and wait to see what offers there are to close the year, I want the rematch against Srisaket. He’s the champion. I respect him but I can beat him and we will do everything possible to face him again,” said “El Gallo,” who has dedicated his fight to the Mexican fans and people who supported him during his preparations in the State of Mexico.
