Officials for Tyson Fury’s WBC heavyweight title defense against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on April 23 have been chosen. The referee will Mark Lyson of England, however, no British judges were chosen. Scoring will be done by Guido Cavalleri (Italy), Robert Tapper (Canada), and Juan Carlos Pelayo (Mexico).
Fury had stated that he wanted no British judges scoring his fight with Whyte following Josh Taylor’s controversial decision win over Jack Catterall last month.
I’m not convinced that the officials should be announced so far in advance of the actual fight. A few days before the fight makes more sense to me.
