WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder and challenger Luis “King Kong” Ortiz made their grand arrivals Tuesday at MGM Grand as they kicked off fight week events ahead of their PPV rematch this Saturday from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Deontay Wilder: “We’re all here to see what’s going to happen on Saturday night. Even though I knocked Ortiz out the first time, it was an amazing fight. That was the fight that I was challenged the most during. I understand why none of the other heavyweights want to fight Ortiz. He’s very dangerous and I blessed him with a second chance. Fans always get their money’s worth when I’m on the big stage. Because people know what I’m able to do to another human being inside of that ring. I can’t wait for Saturday night.”
Luis Ortiz: “Deontay Wilder is a throwback fighter like me, and we both want to fight the best. I believe I’m the best and that’s why I’m getting this rematch. I’m focused on this fight and this fight only and doing everything to have my hand raised Saturday night.”
Also making their grand arrivals at MGM Grand were fighters competing on the pay-per-view undercard.
Three-division champion Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz is looking to win a title in a fourth division when he takes on Miguel “El Michoacan” Flores for the WBA super featherweight championship in the co-main event.
The pay-per-view also features undefeated rising star Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa defending his WBA super bantamweight title against former champion Julio Ceja while undefeated Mexican power-puncher Luis Nery battles Puerto Rico’s Emmanuel Rodríguez in a showdown of former bantamweight champions.

Ortiz is the kind of fighter that you just dont give a second chance, I admire and respect Wilders courage for risking what he is risking here but I believe its a huge mistake.
Fury sure he isnt a heavy banger is slick Wilder can drop him and knock him out so a rematch there makes perfect sense considering that the fight was a throw back fight we dont see too often in the Heavyweight picture.
But to Risk a loss to Ortiz before the rematch with Fury potential fight with the winner of Ruiz vs Joshua its insane. with that Said Ortiz does look to be in tremendous shape I expect another hard fought fight between the two although I will say this I do expect Wilder to hit the deck in this one the question is will he be able to get back up and win?
Probably not that big of a risk considering the age of Ortiz. Should be a good fight while it lasts.
PPV is a lousy idea. The viewer ratings and audience could have been much bigger.
Well said…… PPV, really? PPV is a greedy way for promotors to make money. In this day and age, just wait a hours after the fight and it’s uploaded for free.
I am launching a protest against Wilder, as he hits too hard.
It is like 2 boxers coming to fight and 1 is wearing boxing gloves and the other has a gun. I have been following boxing since the early 70s and had over 1,000 Ring Magazines. Wilders’ punching power is really scary and people are not giving him the respect for what he can do.
Once a fighter wins the first fight by KO, he is more likely to repeat it.
I see another quick stoppage for BOMBSQUAD!!!!!
Damn this is one of those fights that could end in 1 round. These fighters are heavy handed hitters. One can take a good shot, the other can take a decent shot. Can’t wait!
age does’nt mean anything as long as you keep yourself very good condition. it will pay off in deed end. but i beleive wilder will knockout ortiz again.
I’m worried about Ortiz’s jaw after Saturday night. Will it ever by the same? He has the rest of his life to live!!!
The only difference in this fight will be Wilder will stop him earlier. For Kong to win he would need a Panama Lewis in there with him to give him the MIX, because no matter what , Kong is going down because the bombs will stop him. I like Kong, but he cannot beat Wilder.
This will end sooner than the last fight. Ortiz still has a good chance, but Wilder appears to be the top dog in the heavyweight division.
