Results from Bellingham, WA

In the lone pro boxing match to take place on Saturday’s boxing and MMA card at the Mount Baker Theater in Bellingham, Washington, local Jr. middleweight Kevin Torres (4-0-1, 4 KOs) added his fourth consecutive knockout win as a pro and his third straight in a little over one month, knocking out McMinnville, Oregon’s Justin Hubbard (0-1) in the second round.

Torres began the bout stalking patiently in the first, upping his aggression as the round progressed and landing with hard right hands and hooks to the body. In the second, Torres picked up his tempo and quickly stunned Hubbard with a right hand, sending him down for a count. Hubbard made it up, but quickly found himself on the canvas again, courtesy of a vicious Torres uppercut. Torres dropped his foe for a final time with a barrage in the corner. Referee Louis Jackvony hit the count of ten at 1:59 of the second round, giving Torres another impressive win inside the distance.

Three other boxing match-ups scheduled for the card fell apart for various reasons in the days leading up to the show. Torres and Hubbard were originally scheduled to face other opponents, but when those fights were called off, they stepped in against each other.

The rest of the line-up featured a number of amateur and pro MMA contests. The event was organized by Avelar/Galeas Promotions.
