Munguia planning quick return

By Miguel Maravilla

WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia (31-0, 26 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico, spoke about his knockout over Brandon Cook (20-2, 13 KOs) of Toronto, Canada. “Here we are happy that we had a good fight. I hope you all liked my performance. It’s an honor to be fighting on Mexican Independence Day weekend.”

Munguia talked about his future and desire to return to the ring again this year. “I expect to return soon. I want to return either in November or December.”

“I would like to fight anyone. Canelo or Golovkin, but first I want to fight the guys at my weight which is super welterweight. I would love to fight any of the champs at 154 to unify my titles…Viva Mexico!”

Munguia’s promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions added, “We came here to steal the night and that we did. In the future you will see us up against Canelo and Golovkin!”
